Gildas' Lake Street Bakery — Restaurant in Boyne City

I was visiting locally and was told by the yarn shop across the street that I absolutely had to check out the French Bakery across the street. Oh MY!!! I am so glad I did!

My whole family agreed this was the best croissant they’d had outside of France. Their asorted pastries have just the perfect amount of sweetness, not overboard on the sugar like American style pastries often are.

The baguette… OH MY WORD… blistered crackly exterior, and then perfectly chewy on the inside. I couldn’t resist tearing off a piece as soon as I got in my car, and with one bite I was transported to Paris. It’s incredible how hard it is to find a GOOD baguette stateside… if you have discriminating tastes and know what a baguette is supposed to taste like… just know that Gildas’ does it right!!!! Get there early if you want one, they do sell out!

Espresso drinks were all excellent as well. Everything was so incredible, I returned the next day as well! I’m from the eastern part of the state, but I will make frequent returns! 100% worth the drive.

I’m from out of town and my family and I tried this place because it was recommended to us! Honestly, the apple cinnamon crepe was the BEST crepe I’ve ever had. I love the concept of street crepes! Being able to hold it and eat a crispy, not super messy, sweet breakfast was so fun and satisfying! My family all tried different things. They enjoyed the quiche, butter/sugar crepes, and savoury crepes too. The coffee was yummy and freshly made. Also, the atmosphere is very cute and cozy! Almost feels like a place you’d find in New York City while also feeling like you’re in a cute small town! I also loved the hand painted art for sale on the wall. bought a loaf of their CINAMMON bread, but a special French-type egg bread (very good bread with unique lighter & less-crunchy cake-like texture when toasted). The bread itself was well made. Problem is.... excels in being extremely skimpy on the cinammon-goop that’s rolled inside of it; which is WHY we bought it- ... to get cinnamon goop!!. With this bread you get BARELY A HINT of the cinammongoop. They SKIMP on it bigtime.
