Well such beautiful day to have lunch with friends. Have been here before but with a table waiting for me, so not sure how it works. Anyhow arrived a bit early about 1115 am. We waited a bit for them to open meanwhile a hand full of people waiting already. As soon as the door opened it was like a race for these people. Not sure what was happening! The staff just stood there smiling, as if everyone knows the system. We moved in slowly and assume we seat ourselves at the deck outside to the left, meanwhile the others have taken seat at the bar on the water. They were rushing to seat. We sat for about two minutes at the corner end table and were settling in. A man came to us and told us that this was a "professional place" and that we need ito check in at the front. Strike 1. We got up. I went in to a very non friendly hostess, Caucasian sort of blond hair. And I asked for a table. It seemed that when I said we did not have a reservation her day ended. No smile, no hello hands over the ticket to another lady, and she walks me out. They were giving us a table on the center which we did not like , so we ask politely can we seat at the end. You have to ask the front. Strike #2, she could have offered to go and see if it was okay to seat there( also the place was deserted at this time remember 1130 am). So again I go to the front, at which time this young man asked if he could help. As am trying to tell him what I need, hostess number 2 young woman Caucasian also, black long hair on ponytail tells him hastily , I'll take care of it!!. As am trying to explain where we would like to sit, with a look of bother another person comes and tells her table 89 is what they want. She rudely ignores him snatches the menus and tells me to show her. She is practically running, and am behind her. I tell her such table, and pardon me because iam rushing her, and the little "this is a professional place" comes up again on top of arguing with me, that I rushed her. Strike #3. So we get our waiter, "jahq" he is the one that tried to help me and that lady was rude to him(he kept his smile still). He ask what we need and then I requested a manager. We got our drinks, and no too long after mngr shows up. Caucasian male, with a not so happy look either. Whatever their before opening mesting was, must not been good. Their demeanor was less that desired. Then I explained to him what happened he apologized for feeling offended by " professional verbiage ". And I asked what does that mean? we are not professional enough for this place or what? Did not have answer for us, and I said there is 2 sides to the story, all the while, we never insulted, curse at anyone. If anything he was Strike #4 in a big way. He needed to defuse the situation, we are willing to listen and are polite. Had I been a partner or owner that sent someone to see how is going, about 4 people would have no jobs right now. Meanwhile the person who made our day was Jahq, he was superb. Excellent service and a sweetheart with a beautiful smile and good sense of humor. You need more like that at the front. Not people that show how unhappy they are with their positions. People forget patrons produce income, income produces jobs and all together maybe they should remember, this is how a paycheck is borned. Florida is a tough place to service, I do it 5 days a week and it is tought. But if all one sees is sour faces, the best food is not going to save your outcome. Are you racist, that we do not deserve the same respect as others. Remember we did not run to the seating, or insulted or scream for a different seating, we asked politely. Mow the question is did you say the same to the Caucasians customers?? I was raised to say please and thank you. Others don't care about manners. We do! And lastly the customer is always right! Unless the police needs...
Read moreEDIT: My second time here was no better. The service was great but the food definitely not. My main plate was okay - swordfish over root vegetables (hard as a rock) with some kind of sauce that was gloppy and pretty tasteless. The fish was well cooked and tasted fresh so I enjoyed that. We ordered an appetizer that was called something like shrimp ceviche. This thing was just awful from the shrimp themselves that tasted strongly of iodine to the sauce It was nothing like any ceviche I have ever had before and I've had a lot. I don't ever send food back just because I don't like it but I thought about it - it was THAT bad. My husband took a few more bites than I did and we just left it there. We met people here and had a drink at the out door bar before they arrived which was very nice. Next time I'm ordering a burger and calling it a day. No more pricey awful fish here. Changing three star review to two.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm trying to be fair with this review. I'm inclined to go two stars but there were positives about our visit so I'm going with three. We had never been there before and we were meeting friends who live in the area. I am not usually wowed by waterside restaurants in Florida which tend to rest on the fact that they're waterside and will attract tourists no matter what the food situation is. That being said, I had heard good things about the place from others so I was hopeful that it would be different here. The positives: we came early and had a drink a the bar. The bartenders were friendly and the drinks were good. The staff in general were very friendly. The place is nice - especially the light fixtures and murals on the wall near the indoor bar - love! I would come back to hang at the outdoor bar. The negatives: I'm going to preface this saying I am a person that loves to dine out, have had friends in the business and I understand and appreciate the value of food, service and ambiance. Also, I love to cook and people seem to think I'm pretty good at it. We ordered a few appetizers. The Thai chili shrimp was good. The flatbread was not flat which wouldn't have bothered me if the rest of it were not so bland and boring. The white bean hummus was just awful - bland is not the word. But bland seemed to be a theme here and it was most apparent in the sauce I ordered with the fish - a champagne butter sauce. I could tell this was unsalted butter and maybe a little champagne. Absolutely no salt or other seasoning. When I go to a restaurant that is focused on fish and seafood I expect the people cooking the fish to know how to do it really well. Cooking fish is not easy. Here is where Prime Catch, IMO, fell flat. I explained in detail to the server how I wanted my fish cooked to avoid a dried out mess. I received a dried out mess. The server took it back - had no attitude about taking it back but did not offer an apology which I believe she should have mustered up considering we had a conversation about how I liked my fish cooked. I received the second plate of fish pretty much raw. I took it home and will rescue it. My husband liked his dish - the zuppa di pesce. I tasted it and thought it was just okay. The others in our party of eight thought their food was okay as well but nobody raved. We had a good time in general despite the lacking quality. I would eat here once more - maybe just...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place based on all the reviews, but the service is what made me give it a three. As I walked in the front, the two ladies at the front were very friendly and told me I could sit at the bar. As I sat waiting at the bar for several minutes, no one greeted me or acknowledge my presence at all. This was not off to the start I had hoped for and put me in a bad place. There were two bartenders behind the bar, but one was preparing a lot of coffee drinks and the other one seemed to be completely focused on cleaning up and shutting down even though it wasn’t even 9 PM. Finally, a blonde female came over and asked me if I would like something, but didn’t tell me her name or introduce herself at all. I asked for a menu and ordered a drink. I started with an espresso martini and it was just ok, so I didn’t want another one. I then ordered a dozen steamed clams and they were looking amazing., but I couldn’t eat them because the bartender had not given me any silverware. I tried but I couldn’t get her attention to give me some. Finally there was a server standing on the sidewall and I asked him to please give me some silverware and not only did he bring me silverware, but he also brought me a bowl to put my empty shells in because the bartender had not done that either. Once I tasted the clams, they were absolutely delicious! She finally came back to me to check in. She became a tad more friendly and she took my order. I had the prime mixed seafood grill, and just like the clams, it was really tasty. The asparagus were large and fresh, the garlic whip potatoes were tasty, and the lobster shrimp and scallops were all wonderfully seasoned in a rich butter sauce. I really enjoyed the taste of the main entrée. I then asked for a sample of Pinot Grigio that she brought me and it was really good.. I ordered two glasses of Pinot Grigio because it was so tasty. The ambience of the place was really nice and it’s has a beautiful entryway. In addition, it is also right on the water. The place was kept clean and seems to be a popular spot for locals. It’s unfortunate that the service and lack of attention that I received is what made me not be able to give this place a higher review. A good service experience can make or break an evening. As I mentioned, the bartender was only worried about shutting down. it was interesting that when she finally gave me the check then she smiled and said I have a good night. I’d be willing to try this spot again because the food was good, but I won’t be...
