This place has one of the best pastries you can purchase with your hard-earned money. It is called the bee sting and it is incredible. Unfortunately, for us the first thing we ate here was the bee sting and so we had very high hopes for all the other pastries. We were a little bit disappointed, and the others available. Here is a list of the ones we tried and improvements the shop can make to make them tastier.
Cinnamon pudding bread - Consider adding apples to elevate this incredibly. A little plain tasting as is and needs something more.
Brownie - The brownie had a hard crust on it. In order to make this better it needs to be dense, moist and soft. No one in the history of mankind has ever wished their brownie was crunchy.
Raspberry oat bar - Too much oat, not enough raspberry.
Lemon bar - Too much bar, not enough lemon.
Nanaimo bar - Desperately needs a pinch of salt.
The studio coffee was amazing and as I said earlier, the bee sting is a must try so I will still give this...
Read moreLove this place! My go-to place when I want coffee and a nice pastry on a Monday (so many places are closed on Mondays). They can get pretty busy depending on the day/time, but they usually move pretty quickly and I've never had to wait a really long time compared to some other places. The coffee is good, lots of non-dairy creamers and sweetener options. Pastries are DELICIOUS and the breakfast burritos are delicious and filling! The Bee Sting Bun is a personal favorite. Lots of gluten-free and vegan options, and they do a good job of keeping them separate and handling them carefully. Good space upstairs and outside for tables and it looks like they're adding even more, so that's great!
Only complaint is that I have to ask for a fork if I need one, but that's not an actual problem, just a minor inconvenience. Love going...
Read moreI had a $25 gift card. They told me they switched systems and the gift card wasnât reading so they couldnât use it. I said - ok so I just lose my gift card because you switched systems? They would not honor the gift card- which is illegal if a store is still in business. The manager wouldnât even give a coffee saying âI donât have the authority to comp a coffee.â At Cafe M when they switched systems they still honored their old gift cards and when they had trouble running the card- they so graciously comped my coffee order. Itâs shocking that a manager couldnât authorize a drip coffee comp when they couldnât honor a $25 gift card. So very very disappointing and it was my go- to spot since it is close to my house but I will never go...
