Convenient and great food. The wait/ counter staff were unable to live up to minimal standards. Unfortunately, as other people have written the service here is really reprehensible. The kids that work here seem to have no clue that they are here to serve other folks and therefore a nasty and sometimes uncalled for attitude is what the customer gets. I tried to complain. I had been waiting an hour for my food. The bagel was not toasted as ordered. As they took the order back, my friends order and the rest of mine sat out COLD behind the counter. Disgusting for a place with 7 kids working and 3 cooks The physical space hasn't been changed since they opened over 25 years ago. It also appears that the edges of the floors are caked with grease and food particles. I hate to say this because the owner tries to be a very nice guy but he appears to be very unaware that these kids do not clean properly but have plenty of time to lean. Upon telling an employee more than once that they were out of three kinds of coffee, at the end of 2 hours, they still had not changed any of those coffee cylinders. It's unfortunate for the owner, that he is really unaware of how poorly these kids function. They run around like a bunch of ants -nobody really doing anything and looking at each other. Having worked in restaurants for many years and manage staff, it would probably be a better idea if there was somebody managing them who was training and monitoring them in how you behave and how you clean as well as how you refill . They might benefit if somone gave them stations versus random assignment. This place only works if there are very very few customers and on any weekend in the summer...
Read moreThe owner is a nasty and arrogant person. One day I was in a rush to get to NYC to visit my mother in the hospital. She asked me for a bagel with butter so I went to pick one up for her. I always got my bagels from here. When I got to the hospital after 1 1/2 hr drive, the bagel did not have butter on it. BTW a plain bagel is $1.65 or with butter it is $4.05. Since I go here often for bagels the next day I went to get more bagels and mentioned the issue to the cashier that I had the previous day. She was kind enough to get the owner and his response to me was why didn’t you come back yesterday with the bagel and he could have given me a credit. I explained the situation that I took the bagel to my mother that was 1 1/2 hours away and I just couldn’t come back so I said can you give me the credit today and he said NO. So I left the bagels I was purchasing and walked out. That was very poor customer service. Their markup to add butter to a bagel from $1.65 to $4.05, so $2.40 for the butter which is a big profit margin and I can buy a tub of butter for that price, but I was in a rush to get to the hospital so I just paid the price. Since he was so arrogant and rude I will not be going...
Read moreI was a long-time fan of Bagel's International. But my most recent experience will now turn me into an anti-advocate of this bagel store. Individual that took my order made a mistake with my sandwich. I simply ordered a everything bagel, toasted with american cheese and tomato and onion.
When I got home I received an everything bagel, toasted with cream cheese and tomato and onion. I immediately called the store and told them about the mistake. Over the phone they said they'll be happy to correct their mistake.
Once I got to the store it was a whole different experience. Mind you I was already frustrated that my order was not correct. The owner of the store didn't apologize for their mistake. Rather they blamed me. Last time I checked the customer is always right. Rather then holding his staff for their accountability he in turn blamed me for ordering wrong. I don't know how else one can say american cheese, tomato and onion on a toasted everything bagel.
In closing I'm NEVER going back to this store again. I'm NEVER going to recommend them to anybody. EXTREMELY POOR customer service only makes the food...
