Island Donut Company — Restaurant in Brandenton Beach

We live in Bradenton but this was my first time buying donuts here (family visiting). I walked in looking to place my order. The lady at the far end counter said hello and told me to go back out front and fill out an order form. I was a bit confused so I told her it was my first time there. She smiled and said to go out front and fill out my order form. I went outside and read the clipboard and filled out my form and took it back to the lady. She told me a couple of things were sold out so I picked out a couple of different donuts. I paid and then went outside to wait. I came back some time later and since our order was not ready yet I sat inside to read the local paper. That's when 2 ladies walked in and went to place an order and they were told by the same lady I spoke with, "if you missed the order forms out front I have plenty more here you can fill out" They also said it was their first time there so the lady went on to show them the menu, explained the process and proceeded to help them right at the counter. Until that point I thought that the way the lady at the counter served me was the way she served all customers. I don't know why she was unwilling to serve me with the same common courtesy but I will say that I was very disappointed to witness this poor behavior from an employee who is being paid an hourly wage to perform a customer service job. The donuts were very good. The two young people making them were very courteous. Would love to come back and have a different customer service experience though. It's sad to see people who are so unhappy with themselves that they feel like they have to take their own insecurities out on perfect strangers...especially when we are...

Not worth the calories!

We got 4 items and here are the ratings:

Cinnamon Roll - 2 stars - dry and not full of flavor, tasted like a grocery store one that was heated up. We ate about 1/3 and threw the rest away.

Donuts- first off these are very small donuts, mini donuts. I didn’t know they would be mini donuts but they are.

Key lime - 1 star - this is where the reviewer says if I could do negative I would! It tasted like cleaning supplies was what my wife said and I said that is the worst donut I’ve ever had, it tastes more artificial than a jolly rancher.

Bacon maple - this one was decent 3 stars, it tasted like I got it at Tim Hortons or something, good but not great, extremely mediocre.

Chocolate salty caramel- 2 stars not as good as Tim Hortons but not bad, I actually finished it but that had more to do with the small size vs the flavor.

So why did I rate it 1 out of 5 when they had at least 1 donut at 3 stars, the experience was weird, it didn’t smell good in there, you’re only as good as your worst product…If you have bad items remove them from the menu and lastly the price, we felt ripped off by the price of the cinnamon roll and the mini donuts. Again if they were really tasty then I don’t mind spending that but at that price they better taste good and...

This place was absolutely terrible! Please if you are reading this because you are about to choose a place for breakfast… take a deep breath and try another search cause this place isn’t it!! I got the breakfast burrito and let me tell you about this thing the potatoes inside were like ice cubes the whole thing was cold as ice I couldn’t believe it due to everything being made on order… my wife and children ordered the French toast cover in fruit and chocolate, turned out to be two soggy pieces of toast with a little fruit they had in stock everything else was out of stock lol no big deal but when it hit the counter it looked like breakfast served in the state jail. Told the lady working about my cold burrito she said sorry we are closing hahahahaha customer service at its finest!!! Lady was rude had it been a man he would got a pice of my mind! Place was a waste of time and money two things I’m not trying to lose on my vacation sorry not sorry get your act together! 0 out 5 stars only reason I pick one was...
