This is gonna be a bad review so if you really wanna go here, do not read below. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of ambiance and service. The place is welcoming and has a good relaxing atmosphere to it and the waitress was always smiling and was kind. I have nothing negative to say about it. Now let's get to the food part: Me and my wife absolutely love Thai cuisine and frequent traditional Thai restaurants outside the US. We are always looking for good Pad Thai, since that's our favorite, whether it's chicken or shrimp we love it!. I found "Jasmine Thai" on Google, saw that it had very good reviews, so me and my wife decided to give it a try. We were very excited since we hadn't had Pad Thai for almost a year, given our relocation. We were pretty happy with how the place looked when we got there, because is very pretty and they have good relaxing lighting. We ordered an egg roll appetizer and 2 Pad Thai dishes. The wait time was good, the appetizers came first and the Pad Thai followed accordingly. The presentation was good, as you see on the pictures I added, but unfortunately our hopeful and inspiring feelings came crashing down as soon as that Pad Thai touched our taste buds. It was a sweet and sour I never tried before on this specific dish. After about the fourth bite my stomach was upside down and my head was spinning from all the sugar they must have added to this dish as the sweetness was so intense, the menu should have an asterisk on this dish, remarking the instant diabetes it could give you and your loved ones!. Our faces of disappointment reflected the high expectations we had for this place. "I just wanted a decent chicken Pad Thai dish" - my wife said, as I concurred. I wish the story ended there, but it kept going to the car with us, all the way home and basically all night, as the stomach pain I felt was like nothing I had experienced before with this type of food, I mean maybe with hot tacos, but a simple Pad Thai dish won't do that to you, well, now I know better.
Needless to say, we will not be going back to this place, although there are people that like loads of sugar in their food. But once you have refined your taste buds to traditional foods, specially one that hasn't been "Americanized", you'll understand.
Sorry for the long post, and in case you were wondering how many times I wrote the word: "Pad Thai", I'm too lazy to count so you'll have to go back and...
Read moreI can come here after a super stressful day and the food, service and peaceful atmosphere will have me so relaxed half way thru the meal. The flavors are beyond amazing. If you are looking for healthy food in a peacefully setting, come here. They are never too crowded but do a lot of order pick ups. If you have never had Thai food, start here. They are the BEST!
My new favorite is the bang bang chicken. WOW!!!!!
Update: They have a special soup menu and wow it is amazing. I could live on the Coconut and the Red Curry soup!!!! The sweet n sour is very salty and the green curry is ok.
Music plays quietly in the background. Table tops have beautiful carvings. Immaculately clean and very courteous service.
PRO's on the food: Crab Rangoon is better than any other place we have tried. There was actual visible crab and you could taste it!
Hubby loves either: Pineapple fried rice with raisins, peppers, and cashews and choice of meat. It was sweet and not dry like some places. We ordered chicken and it was tender. Or, Sweet and Sour which to me is too sweet.
I love: Red Curry and the Panang Curry was beautiful and served with ample amounts of sauce. I ordered veggie no meat and could not finish it. The Mango Curry is a sweet coconut base kicked up with spice. Mild was fine. First bites were spicy but midway you don't notice anymore. Chunks of sweet mango and chicken so tender you can't find this at any other Thai place around, and I eat at all of them. Their coconut soup is the best. Twice the size and more in it that the other Thai place on hey 60. Packed with whole mushrooms not slices, I get it with tofu and love the flavor. I also like the Drunken Noodles which has just enough heat to open the sinuses but not burn the tongue. Next time I will order it with extra veggies.
Cons: The Green Curry tasted like pureed peas with spice. Not at all what I expected. Just awful. Maybe today was a bad day? But this is the only thing I don't like here
This is our favorite Thai place in the area for a reason. Great for both business, family or a romantic meal. Not a place for children who do not sit well. Been coming here for years and never once had a problem with service which is...
Read moreHad a relative in the Brandon Region Hospital passing a kidney stone and noticed Jasmin Thai across the street so we decided to walk over and give it a try for dinner. Very clean establishment and we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was VERY friendly and truly attentive to our every possible need. Food was excellent (a little pricey (and truly only a "little") but certainly worth it! Although a little out of our way from our normal dining radius, if we ever happen to be in the area again we'd most certainly drop in for a pleasurable dining experience! Also, and while there, couldn't help but notice how many Uber Eats and/or GrubHub drivers were coming in to pick up delivery orders so this place is obviously in high demand.. :)
By the way, I saw a negative review that complained that serving sizes were small. All I can say is that if you eat like a horse and you're the size of a horse, maybe Jasmine Thai isn't for you! The portions were perfectly appointed for anyone who understands proper food portions, especially when it comes to meat! We each had to have our remaining food boxed so we could take it home. Horse eaters might want to choose an all you can eat buffet instead of trying to live a more...
