Came here last week with the family for a nice dinner, on what I expected to be, a "quiet" evening. It was neither quiet, nor nice. One of my relatives wanted to leave within 10mins of being seated, but given the hour, we elected to stay rather than search for another venue.
Pros: Surprisingly diverse menu for a variety of palates, though very basic and American. I was hoping for something more given the ratings.
Cons: Ambiance: Too loud, too dark (several people needed their phone flashlights to even read the menu as there was no functional candle or other light source available at the table), and too cold - for people from Chicago, that's saying something. Our waiter even mentioned the ambiance was an issue for the staff.
Service: Our waiter consistently walked away from our table while we were trying to order, forgot to check in with us, or otherwise seemed to ignore us while engaging in chit chat with a table beside us. When he did take our orders and stayed long enough to hear them all, he would stay in one place so everyone at the table had to essentially call out their items - several of them were hard of hearing and of sight, which made this uncomfortable for them. It was atrocious. Go around the table, stand beside the guest, take the order. Basic etiquette. Given his older age, he behaved as though he was doing us a favor. We had to flag him down periodically just to place our order and pay.
I considered speaking with management about it that evening, but we were so fed up by the end of the night, we just wanted to leave.
Add to this, the front desk all but vanished when one of my party asked for a candle or light because they couldn't see. They got 0 response.
Food: Someone ordered the bangbang shrimp and could barely tolerate it given the level of siracha or chili pepper in the sauce. Maybe it was marked on the menu (I didn't order it or review that menu item so I can't be sure) but if not, it should be. Bread was never refilled, nor offered again after the 1st serving was finished. Tuna had too much of a "fishy" flavour when, if fresh, and raw, it should not have had. Realistically, I should have sent it back and ordered something else. The others in our group seemed satisfied with their meal items, thus the 3 stars.
Final thoughts: The restaurant seemed overwhelmed by customers and/or lacking appropriate staff (though I did notice a few loitering by and talking rather than checking patrons), and for the price of the meal, I was underwhelmed. I would not come here again or recommend it to someone looking for a "nice" meal or satisfactory seafood. It seems more in the vein of Red Lobster or Shells, just...
Read moreOn 2/18/23, My Husband And I Went To Your Restaurant For Our Anniversary Dinner. I’ve NEVER Been Treated Like How We Were Treated Tonight At A Restaurant. We Waited For Over 40 Minutes With Reservations To Be Seated. I Dont Know How Long We Were Waiting At The Table With No One Greeting Us But Apparently We Were Told We Only Waited 6 Min Which Doesnt Sound Accurate. Anyway, We Didnt Even Get An Actual Waitress. We Were Greeted By Another Server Who Saw That We Handt Been Helped So He Came Back To See If He Could Get Us Drinks So We Did End Up Getting Drinks And Bread Somewhat Ordered By Him Instead Of Our Actual Waitress. 15 Min Later The Server Katie That We Were Supposed To Have Rudely Came By To Our Table And Snapped That She Was Busy With A Large Table. It Shouldn’t Matter If We Are A 2 Top Table Or 17 Top Table, People Shouldn’t Be Ignored Like We Were Or Treated That Way. 10 Mins After That She Came And Said She Is Not Going To Be Taking Care Of Us And Another Server Will Be. Meanwhile We Saw Her At The Hostess Stand Complaining Why We Were Sitting In Her Section.
After Losing Half Of My Appetite, We Ordered Appetizers. Food And Drinks Were Delicious But The Way We Were Treated By The Server Katie Was Unacceptable, Unprofessional, And Rude. Later, I Had Asked The Server If He Had Spoken To The Manager And He Advised That He Did. However, The Manager Didnt Come To The Table And See How We Were After Being Treated Like We Were. Chris Manager Came Over Within A Matter Of Minutes Asking What Was The Issue And We Tried To Explain What The Problem Is, He Was Implying That We Were Upset About Waiting. He Called My Husband Hostile!!!!! I Mean Thats Just WRONG!!! No, That Wasn’t The Issue. The Issue Is How Katie The First Waitress Treated Us Like We Were Beneath Her. With Inflation, People Have A Choice To Spend Their Money. This Dinner Was Important. This Dinner Was My Anniversary Dinner And I Was Looking Forward To This...
Read moreFood has always been a delight at bonefish. Always fresh always hot always catering to your needs. I would say the gross look on the woman manager face when certain people walked in the restaurant was really disturbing. The manager's always have a meeting and sit in the long seating across from the bar in the corner area. Even though I've witnessed one too many meetings it's almost like they eat cookies and talk about patrons more than they do work. I find that to be very discouraging for employees to want to work there because of that. I'm not so sure to trust eating there too much after seeing the discuss look on the lady face when certain people walk through the door. She was engrossed in disgust. Like what is your problem they're coming too the business that you're managing to spend their hard earned money and you have the nerve to look at them as if they're beneath you. Lol stuff in her big face with cookies It was really weird. I would rather not be a participant at a restaurant like that because of that. The host work harder than my actual server who I saw twice. Wants to take my order second to bring me my bill. One random pop in That took about 15 minutes after I was eating I had to stop the host again to say hey they didn't bring something out. Beyond the negativeness of the one lady I really wish I would have got her name so I can be direct She know who she is and she knows she's always eating something and needs to stop. That place need a manager not children acting ignorant. Overall it's really an enjoyable place to catch a blueberry lemonade and enjoy some bang bang shrimp of course everything on the menu is pretty much really good. Not really sure if I'll be...
