Benny J's Pizza — Restaurant in Branford

I needed to leave a review for the past few times I've eaten here because of how great this place is! I've been trying to find a great local pizzeria and restaurant in town, and I'm sure I found my favorite spot. I usually call to pickup salads, paninis, and wraps whenever my sister and I go to the beach, and they've always been ready on time! The salads here are great, with lots of choices and unique blends! My sister and I had a Cobb Salad and Antipasto Salad, which were both really good! Chicken on the Cobb Salad was tender and not dry which was really good, and my sisters Antipasto salad was really good too! Both salads were full to the top of the container and we were impressed with the portions! You really get a bang for your buck here. I had the Avocado Burger Wrap, and my sister had the SJ Burger Wrap, both delicious and a combination we've never had before anywhere else. Pizza is great too, just last night we had family over from Maine and called delivery for 2 large pies, the Florentine and Penne Alla Vodka Pie, as well as a medium House Special. Driver was respectful and friendly and arrived a little sooner than expected, so all pies were hot and fresh! The sauce is very tasty, and the crust was cooked just right. Truly a hidden gem! The other week, my family and I came here for dinner and I've got to say we were impressed, Benny J's has earned a new customer. We started off with the fried calamari, capresa with prosciutto, and an order of wings. They arrived quickly, not only hot and fresh but also delicious! For our main course, my wife got the gnocchi bolognese, I had the shrimp scampi, and our kids had the veal cutlet parm and chicken parm dinner. All dinners came with a side salad and garlic bread. Our dinners were excellent. Not only was our food probably one of the best in town in terms of taste, freshness, and quality, but the staff were also nice and accommodating. For desert my wife had the cheesecake, and again, delicious. From this moment onward we began to order our pizzas and pasta dinners for delivery from this establishment whenever we'd have family get-togethers too. Delivery is great, drivers are always nice, respectful, and quick! Food also arrives hot. Yesterday for example, we ordered a large penne alla vodka pizza, and a small half sausage half meatball pie. Pizza arrived within 45 minutes, and the driver was kind and friendly. Overall a big step up, if I could give more stars I would!...

I had no idea this gem was here!! We really wanted mozzarella sticks and they had them!! They have great tomato sauce, very bright flavor, very fresh!!

We were not sure how the sandwiches would be but I am so glad we got them!! Best bread!! I got the eggplant pesto focaccia and my family got the orange chicken. The Eggplant was nice and tender! I didn't expect orange slices on a chicken cutlet but we really enjoyed it!! Roasted red peppers seemed fresh & were perfect on both sandwiches and THE BREAD!! the focaccia bread is fantastic!! Fluffy and slightly crispy with some rosemary on it!! Sandwiches were warm but not over toasted or burnt like some focaccia sandwiches I have had at other establishments.

I am so happy we stopped in here and will be back for the pizza!! Give them a try!

Comparing this place to other branford pizza joints: these sandwiches were the least greasy focaccia sandwiches we have had! I really can't compare the bread to any other sandwich place it's sooooo good!! The fillings didn't all fall out and portions were perfect for us! Yum! Clean restaurant, very fast! Very friendly!...
