This is another review in my journey for the perfect calzone. I am doing it for Johnny’s. When I used to live in Flowery Branch, the calzones were one of the best I ever had. However, it has been a while since I visited this location and unfortunately it is not the same since I last visited. First previously the calzones were large. At least 12 in. In fact they previously had a 16-18 inch version as well. Now it is only about 8in which is disappointing since this is usually not satisfying. In taste the dough had a slight salty taste, which was unexpected. But the flavor of garlic, ricotta, and mozzarella were balanced well and were delicious. In appearance, the calzone was slightly droopy and there was an area that was slightly overcooked. Overall the calzone was good, but not the best I have had. To help complement the calzone I had garlic knots which were excellent. Perfect Garlic, Parmesan, oil mix. Also the sauce they provided for dip was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. A friend that went with me, had a gluten veggie pizza and garlic cheese bread. He loved it. I will most likely not visit this location due to where I currently live but would go back if I lived in the area. I would not have the calzone again due to its size...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience. We called in our order and when it was repeated incorrectly we made sure to let the employee know. After confirming they had the correct order we were told 15 minutes. We arrived 20 minutes later, paid for the order and were told it would be a few minutes. 15 minutes later, (yes, 35 minutes from the time of the order) I checked the order to verify it was correct. Well, it wasn't! One pizza was ordered with fresh mozzarella. It was a plain cheese pizza. When I told the employee it was incorrect he argued that it WAS fresh mozzarella. After explaining what "fresh" mozzarella is he replied "oh, I know what you mean. Would you like us to remake it?". Seriously? After waiting 35 minutes for the incorrect order I had no intention of waiting another 35. At this point I asked for a refund on the incorrect pizza and left with the other part of the order. Honestly, I should have left it all behind. The gluten free pizza was burnt on the edges and I had to make food for the ones that wanted the fresh mozzarella pizza. It was not worth the price or hassle of ordering from this location. The staff definitely needs training to understand the customer is who keeps them in a job. It's unfortunate that they have...
Read moreAmazingly enough, they've always been there right around the corner and in three years we've lived here, it was only recently we started eating here at Johnny's. Three times back and the manager greets us, personally, by name, at the door. Its been a few weeks, we've been busy, but our plans include a return this weekend. We are already "Regulars" and our waitress is 'Sarah'.. A family place with high energy.
Okay, I hope I've given you the feeling we get from the people and the atmosphere. What about the food?
EVERY PIZZA PLACE PROMISES GREAT PIZZA AND GENUINE NEW YORK STYLE.
We've been there, had that, love it, and we know it when we see it. This place captures the wonderful flavor of genuine New York Style Crust. They say it's about the 'Water'... well, these guys get real close to authentic and the flavor is wonderful. Toppings are good quality But don't order too many toppings, or maybe you'll get less of each one. (whadidya expect from authentic New York, Bubby?) I've used up all of the adjectives I know. We live in Chateau Elan, so if you're our neighbor, trust us. In one sentence, We loved the place, the food, the people, the service, and the price is reasonable. They have our honest best review. Jim and...
