Went with a group of 8 around lunch time. We called ahead to ask if 8 was ok. The lady on the phone said yes, but we’d have to sit at 2 tables, which we were all fine with. When we got there, we told the waitress at the front that there were 8 of us. She scoffed and rolled her eyes at us. The entire time we were there, she was giving us an attitude which none of us could understand. We were all very respectful, making sure to say please and thank you. I have always felt that no matter how bad a waiter is, to always tip them well since they may just be having a rough day. But this woman was so rude to us, very condescending tone, throwing our food down on the table and showing how irritated/annoyed she was on her face. So much eye rolling. Not to mention the food was not the best. The pumpkin french toast was just regular French toast with a little bit of pumpkin-flavored sauce on top, but not nearly enough. The poutine was not poutine. The mozzarella sticks were just “sticks”- they were all completely hollow. My sandwich made me sick a few bites in. There were also random little black specks floating around in my water. They also charge you a couple extra bucks if you ask for a to-go box, and there were quite a few spelling errors on the menu, which honestly didn’t bother me. It was just very entertaining to read through it. Also, 1/2 of the group got our food a full 20 minutes before the others, and at no point did our waitress come out to let us know or apologize for a delay. She straight-up ignored our group the whole time. I’m hoping this was just one bad experience, as the place was cute, the prices were good, and the other workers...
Read moreThis place has a lot going for it. Nice down-home diner feel and good food.
However, the service we received from our waitress wasn't great. I ordered a cup of oatmeal with brown sugar on the side. I ordered the sugar on the side because, for health reasons, I have to limit my sugar intake. When the oatmeal arrived, I politely reminded our waitress that I'd asked for the brown sugar on the side. She responded "meh" (or similar) and walked away. She made no effort to make things right. Not wanting to create any friction, I didn't press the issue.
Our waitress didn't check on us once. When we wanted the check, we had to try repeatedly to get her attention. When she finally brought the check (with the oatmeal included), she did not acknowledge my uneaten oatmeal or even thank us.
Overall, this place was fine. I'd probably return. And perhaps our waitress was just having a bad day. But this first visit was not the best experience,...
Read moreWe stopped in on our vacation to Brattleboro and found this place to be a huge disappointment. The place is dumpy looking first off. The staff served my child a hot chocolate when we clearly asked for chocolate milk. Then the hot chocolate tasted watered down. The Texas toast was flat. The hashbrowns were swimming in oil and lacking of any taste whatsoever. All food was generally bland. The portions were small and yet the bill was over $40 for 2 adults and a child. A tiny glass of OJ was $3. The waitress took two trips to drop of three beverages and then had to go outback before taking our order. She asked how we were doing when it was time for us to leave. While waiting for our check we noticed a heavy set waitress clearing the table next to us stop to sniff her armpits. I also find it repulsive when the cook staff is smoking cigarettes in front of the building. I wouldn't take my family back here if it was the last...
