Way to loud for a sit down place I could barely hear the people sitting at my own table and service could of been way better. When I came in and was asked if I needed any drinks so I ordered a round for everyone then my drinks came out server walked away came back 30 mins later asking if we needed another drink without taking our order after we said we are ready then came back with another round but had to get there note pad which they forgot to take our order well another 40 minutes gone by and we just got our order in and we been here already for an hour and 10 minutes. Really? Then after I ordered it took another hour and 5 minutes for our pizzas to come up because now our server took our order but didn't get it in right away because they weren't out on the floor with customers so long now they had to make there rounds or customers would start rioting.
After 2 hours and 15 minutes of first walking in and after 4 rounds of drinks we were all getting full already because we all had 4 rounds of drinks in us before we even got our pizzas to the table and by that time we weren't even really hungry anymore. I noticed when running to the bathroom why my server wasn't better I seen them on there phone texting people and goofing off with the other people workers here. They were joking about a mouse they just seen running across the dining room and there plans after work and for the up coming weekend and swearing at eachother while laughing out loud and throwing things at each other like it was a play ground for them.
I never seen such a thing at any business like this place I've been to a lot of pizza joints and thought the taste of pizza was so so not the best in my opinion. If I would of known this would of been my experience I would of just gone across the street to Village Pizza were the prices were a lot better with better quality toppings and the owners are friendly to there customers and ordered there and just took my pizza home with my friends and family and would of saved a lot of money on top of it and could of taken everyone to the movies with the money I would of saved. I guess you live and learn I wanted to try Durbins out but don't think I'll eat there again because of there service for one and the amount of money and time it costed to get food here. Better quality pizza and friendlier people are right across the street at Village Pizza along with way better prices too oh well I guess you never know unless you try first I guess sometimes it's just better to stick with things you know are good and can enjoy...
Read moreSorry for the rather verbose review, but I really enjoy Durbins! It doesn't have a fancy menu, but everything is good. From a club sandwich to ribs to pizza, the whole menu is good. Clearly one of my local favorites- bonus- they're often are open late (I think until 2?). While a great option for late night pizza/food vs other places open for a late bite (like ick fast food chains) the entire menu is great. (I found out the have ribs on special Wednesday, so there ya go). The staff is just awesome. Super friendly. I just went in to grab my pizza but decided to add to my order. While I waited Chef Jesus asked the hostess to try a "creation" he made up. He offered a taste to the hostess (who is super friendly, I'm sorry I didn't catch her name to give her a shout-out). She declined the 'sample' saying "They're always making 'experiments.' They're really good but that has giardiniera..." which she didn't like. So I said "I'll try it!" And... Damn... It was GOOD! I said "You gotta put this on the menu... " I won't say what he called it so nobody steals his idea, but if Jesus is cooking and it's not crowded, politely ask for the "Jesus Special." Since he probably has a few specials; just mention the one "rolled with cheese, pepperoni & giardiniera" (if you like those ingredients you'll love this, more to it but I think he'll know...). He can probably make it as an appetizer or... ? That being said, I love when I can go to a place off-peak hours and just say "Cook me whatever you like. Surprise me!" If the chef/cook isn't swamped with orders, often it's something the chef/cook/whoever really likes & makes it good. Thanks Durbins!! ( ¡Muchísimas gracias Jesus!). Lastly, definitely try the ribs. The meat falls off the bone. I haven’t had ribs like that since I lived in Cincinnati-- if you’re familiar, you'll know the name "Montgomery Inn." 'Nuff said. And for the old Durbins fans, I heard a rumor that they bought Teehans, will be remodeling & adding a kitchen. I admit I didn't frequent Durbins Pub in Tinley, I carried out- but I'm looking forward to it being back closer to home. (Honorable mention, Darla's Deli & Cafe around the corner- same owners- try the potroast panini. They sometimes run out later in the evening, so if that's what you want and it's late call 1st. The rest of the menu is good...
Read moreTried the new Durbin’s a few weeks ago. Food was simply AMAZING. Ordered a side of the mushroom risotto-OUTSTANDING. My daughter had the chicken wrap and commented it was the best she ever had. Fast forward to this Saturday 6/7 went with a friend after talking the place up and was disappointed and utterly shocked with the food. It was AWFUL, the risotto had no mushrooms, tasted like it had been reheated with bad butter (taste was off), no seasoning at all. When I brought it to the attention of our waitress she didn’t seem surprised. It was remade, had the same bad taste, was then over salted with 3 mushroom slices. The fries were old, cold and unsalted, my daughter ordered the same chicken wrap and couldn’t believe how bad it was, corned beef sandwich was dried out. It was such a da to night difference that I had to write a review. The first time we got the regular plastic containers to take our food home, this Saturday it was cardboard containers, the cardboard absorbed the liquid and by the time I got home there was a hole in the container and the food was laying in the bag. Won’t be back for a long time. Also, noticed it took our waitress a long time to come back to our table, then realized she was working the roof top as well as the inside. On a Saturday afternoon I expected it to be busy, bar was empty and only a few people were in side. Was happy to see you reopen, hope...
