I truly hate to write this, but it's a must. When you put the name Home of the Hoagy in your business name, that can cause people to have certain expectations. First off, Google Maps will send you to someone's aunties house. I'm pretty sure you can email google Business Services, and they'd be happy to correct that. The young lady at the counter was nice, repeated the order numerous times, and was a delight, but she told the lady ahead of me that she could leave a tip that they share the tips. We can all see the big bowl for tips. Personally, I usually tip when getting served at sit-down restaurants but not carry out fast food. I did leave a tip but felt pressure to do so. The dining area was pretty much clean. I'd suggest a long bench and remove some tables because most were taking their orders to go, and there is no public bathroom anyway. The kitchen and the staff looked clean, wore gloves when needed, etc. However, as far as food goes, it's a no for me. The fries were soggy and flavorless (not even salt) (fresh cut fries should be soaked for a while in water, then blanched before final cooking. Please see the Idaho potato website for further instructions) The steak sandwich: where do I start? Steak-ums is a no-no for this sandwich that is a cultural icon on the south side. A simple meat grinder can help achieve a great consistency when using a quality cut of beef. Also, there was no cheese after I asked if it came on the sandwich. Seemed as if the sandwich was microwaved due to the texture of the bread, which was not pleasant. The regular hoagy: It seemed like Sam's club lunch meat. Definitely not freshly sliced and was served with white cheese. An investment in a meat slicer and better quality meat would be beneficial. The onions are a bit thick for this "replica," a meat slicer can help with that as well. Pepperoni was a surprise, not good but not bad. No salami was odd. The bread was not fresh. I'd opt for a Tuesday delivery for fresh bread since you're closed on Mondays. I'm not sure how old the bread was. Turano doesn't deliver on weekends, and today is a Tuesday. The sauce: just no. No, no, no. Seems like ketchup was added. Tasted more like mild sauce for wings than anything I would have expected from a place with home of the hoagy in the name. I think if you're capitalizing on a name that has been around for decades, you could do better, especially with the quality of ingredients. Imagine going to Target and seeing great value on the shelves. This is how I felt. Pure disappointment. My friend warned me about this place, and the reviews gave me concern, but I still went and spent my $40 for 3 sandwiches and a small fry just to try for myself. I wish this business well and much success, but putting home of the hoagy in your name set a certain standard that is not even close to being met, especially with that Steak-ums sandwich. Hopefully, they will take heed to suggestions and feedback to improve their menu. It's back to...
Read moreSo I wanted to leave this review to let others know about my experience upon visiting Home of the Hoagie so I believe this location is fairly to Country Club Hills I believe this is a franchise so I'll be quite honest with you I was a little hesitant with wanting to try this location and seeing that it is a franchise because in my experience I have noticed that at times franchise locations doesn't have that same quality taste as some of the other original locations so out of my busy day of running around for my son's birthday I decided to go to this location my wife has been wanting to try it so I figured she can live vicariously through me and the location actually is in a good location it's next to the Walmart it's next to the Marcus Theater it's right off the expressway a perfect spot to put this establishment. The staff was very nice The Establishment was very clean I would have the menu a little bit more visible but I do understand that they're just getting everything up to where they probably need it to be after recently opening up so no harm no foul on that I ordered a large turkey breast with onions oil vinegar pickles no Peppers no cheese I was really pleased with the overall experience I left a tip and that's big with me if I leave establishment a tip that means that I really felt my needs were met and I believe that they deliver world class customer service so after I get back to my truck I broke my sandwich inhalf and I ended up eating half of it. So I know you all are wondering how did it taste to be honest with you I have no complaints the submarine bread wasn't too hard it wasn't too soft the onions were amazing I believe that's what really makes the sandwich the onions were amazing the choice of turkey breast has such a fresh taste to it it wasn't still the aroma of the onions and oil and oregano really did his job I started to eat the other half in my truck but like I said I had things to do for my son's birthday but I can promise you I ate the other half when I got home then I was so mad because the sandwich was gone and I wish I would have got two lol but into conclusion please support this business I believe they're doing a great job I I am more of a unbeatable eatables kind of customer just because that's my to go to I love their sandwiches and their daily soups but I just became a new fan of Home of the Hoagie and I don't mind having a second sandwich place I'm really big on these reviews and it's never my business to kick any business down at all but I definitely love to share my experiences. This location...
Read moreNot a south suburban resident but I frequent the area often. As I was in County Club Plaza, I saw "Home of the Hoagy" fast food place. As I got closer, I saw the actual name, "Fitchy's Home of the Hoagy"! Living on Southside of Chicago, that piqued my curiosity because there is a "Home of the Hoagy" that is a Southside staple. My dad used to take us on our "take-out-Fridays"! I believe I have been going to HOTH for over 40 years!! In essence, my curiosity was piqued. After all, if your name has "home of the hoagy" in it.......watch out! That is cause for constant side-by-side comparisons and criticism. So, here goes! I was pleasantly surprised by the look, consistency and overall taste!! No, the taste is not identical to Southside's Home of the Hoagy (HOTH), for those who care, but the taste was still very good! I had a steak with hot and sweet peppers and fries with the sauce. I actually liked Fitchy's fries better. They could hold the sauce better and don't turn into mush. But, Fitchy's need to add more sauce on those fries. They are sturdy and can hold up to more! And, if I had to add one more critique, I prefer the meat texture and type from the Southside's HOTH. Fitchy's was still very tasteful and seasoned well. No complaints there, I guess, I am just used to HOTH'S meat type and texture. And this has to go without saying, HOTH, has struggled with staying open(and if ya know, ya know), which is why, I haven't visited in years!! So, Fitchy's stay restaurant healthy and I'll definitely keep...
