Having a bakery within walking distance of your house is one of the best amenities you can have in life. Not exaggerating at all. But Los Encantos is like having ten bakeries within walking distance, because you get such a variety of different options from around the world! We've tried just about everything, bahbka for French toast, loaves special made for banh mi, the naan inspired me to make my own chicken tikka. He even made special loaves for bread bowls that I put clam chowder in! We go in on Saturday and plan our cooking around what kind of bread Paul and his crew are baking up! And the scones...always a new flavor, always the sweet highlight of my weekend.
Please support this local business Bremerton! You don't know how lucky you are to have something like this just tucked in a little neighborhood.
I should also mention the baker has great taste in music ; ) always got good tunes going!
(Note: the photos are my creations, made with Los Encantos bread - chicken tikka with naan, kaiser roll BBQ ham Sammie, Italian grinder on pan sabao - they don't make their own right now, but I've heard they are going to start experimenting with a menu soon,...
Read moreDIETERS BEWARE! No, really. I have now eaten 2 LOAVES of Paul's fresh baked bread (one Hokkaido Milk Bread, one Babka).
Yesterday, I happened to stop by and was able to purchase a fresh-out-of-the-oven-hot Babka...I made it down the road a few blocks before the heavenly aroma had me abandoning all shame. There I sat - on the freeway doing 60mph - fighting to get fistfulls of the sweet sticky cinnamon-y goodness (all while totally abiding by safe traffic laws fyi)...
The Hokkaido Milk Bread did, on the other hand, make it home. Not exactly in one piece, but at least half of it! The bread itself is more on the savory side and has a texture I can only describe as spring-y. This, when cut thick, makes for the BEST French toast slice: Flakey and airy enough to absorb the custard when dipping, yet spongey enough to retain it's shape during the cooking process. I topped with whipped cream and strawberries...simply delightful.
While not the best for my waistline, I cannot recommend Los Encantos World...
Read moreI'd been wanting to check out Los Encantos for months, but just never remembered at the right time. We finally made it in last weekend, and OH MY GOODNESS!! This place is amazing!! From the friendly greeting when we came in, to the delicious baked goods we took home, I was super impressed. There were so many things I'd never seen anywhere else, and they kindly explained what each one was. It was hard to choose, because everything looked wonderful! Everything was indeed delicious, but the thing that stood out for me was my cinnamon roll. I'm a big cinnamon roll fan -- it's probably my very favorite baked good. But I'm almost always disappointed when I buy them because they're either dry, or not cinnamon-y enough, or there's too much or too little icing/frosting. I'm sure glad I didn't pass theirs up because I'm telling you, it was PERFECTION!! I savored every last bit. If you've been thinking of paying Los Encantos a visit, don't put it off! I feel sure you'll quickly become a fan...
