WOW! What a delightful experience, (again,) with friends in from the east coast for our college reunion. We did not even have to think twice about where we would take them! The host is a lovely gentleman who makes you feel he remembers you each time, and our server was just spectacular in her knowledge of Celiac Disease, realizing my salad would need replacing due to the croutons we had not thought about. She gladly subbed in many beets, brought a lovely light and fruity balsamic vinegar and the salad was a delight. Our guests enjoyed the lamb special and grilled halibut, cooked to the lady's request. My husband enjoyed his seafood linguini as well as a calamari appetizer. I treated myself to the filet mignon and lobster and I have to say it was PERFECT in every way! A HUGE LOBSTER- HUGE is the only way to put it. And a steak that you barely needed a knife to cut. Of course, we really did not expect the crowds so we thanked my husband for making the reservation because we arrived at 5:30PM on a Sunday to a pretty packed house. Add a few anniversary and large groups and it was just a great small town atmosphere, which is what we love and why CAPS is our go to place for treating ourselves and our friends. I cannot say enough about the service. It was seamless and yet my specials were dealt with with cheerful and attentive suggestions.
We recently returned to Caps and it’s just as good as it’s always been! now, with minor exceptions (Pizza) every dish can be ordered with GF pasta! And it’s excellent - holds up to re-heating for next day lunch. They had the patio opened and a large crowd enjoyed a lovely night in old town. Priced reasonably and great people, we’re back on track to visit...
Read moreUpdated again. Antonio is a great kind face and bussers too. Bussers are very attentive. And if you go wirh a short block...u can get. Meal for 25 bucks. Call and ask. otder before 545pm. Certain days etc...I think its a meal a salad and a ice cream. Updated post. I added more stars because of course we go back. And we went on Christmas Night, and it was stupendous and a great time, no grumpy server. I appreciate everyones hard work and the attention to detail in cleanliness, kindness (from most lol) and of course the food and overall attentiveness.
original post. Don't get me wrong. The hosts are always pleasant and the male host especially is always a pleasure to talk to, and the bussers and cooks and the food specials are even more on point than before..but something is a miss in floor management....that would allow for one very unpleasant server..thus a slightly stressful experience ..cuz u need ur server.....when it happens..nice people will laugh, but when ya get stuck with someone who appears over it, almost every time.u Dine there....you stop choosing to go there..
noone seems to be in charge going around making sure everything is ok. ..and just a little bit more quality control could do wonders...even with a grumpy server... 90 percent of my food is great. A friend's chicken was so dry it looked it and we rather someone said u know what, we r out of chicken instead of serve a dried out piece.
Drinks are great. I love the tables and Italian atmosphere..but the grumpiness of the grumliest person in the room takes over sometimes.
I wonder how the bussers feel about having such grumps when it affects their...

My dad and I are in Brentwood for work. He owns his own business and we wanted to have some lunch as we were walking in the restaurant an old man was right outside and asked my dad and I “ what did we want?” We replied “to eat.” he then proceeded to tell us “we are not open yet, and if you are looking for work, we don’t have any because there’s a lot of people like you guys that come in asking for work.” I was honestly taken a back because we had just said we wanted to eat and the open sign said open and the restaurant door was open as well. Capps Oak Street bar and Grill. If you guys want to have a dress code in place, something should be displayed so your customers could know. Just remember you are a bar and grill. You are not a Ruth Chris or a Carbone, hell you’re not even an Olive Garden or an old spaghetti factory. You are a hole in the wall with overpriced mediocre bar food with A racist employee and nasty hospitality… he might have even been the owner which makes it worse. This is how you guys run your...
