I hate to do this, however it needs to be known and addressed. I ordered 3 sandwiches (about $40.) and while sitting there waiting I noticed the employee stop, answer an incoming call (still wearing gloves she was wearing to make the sandwiches), ring-in that order on the register and then promptly go back to handling food…with the same gloves she just handled the germ infested phone and register with. I stepped up and asked that she change out her gloves which she did and also threw away the tainted food. This makes me question the cleanliness of everything that goes on behind the scenes. This was in the evening and I was only customer there so it’s not as if she was in a rush. This is unfortunate because I’m sure the owner just has no idea. This is not a training issue as I’m sure the employee knows better. This is an issue of laziness.
As a side note, cold pickles shouldn’t be wrapped in with a hot sandwich. It’s like putting cold salad in a hot bowl.
All of that said, They do offer a nice selection, you just have to keep an eye on what’s going on behind...
Read moreWent to Maine to visit my daughter. She suggested we eat at The Harvest Moon Deli in Brewer. This sandwich shop is kinda hippie dippie (lol like me). The music is from the late 60's, 70's.....etc. The atmosphere is nice. The sandwiches are all named after songs, we all know and love. You place your order at the counter, when you arrive. The waitress/sandwich maker was a sweet dark haired girl. I placed my order which was called " The beef of burden " my granddaughter got, "Take it Cheesy" and my daughter ordered " More than Birds". The sandwiches arrived in wax paper, (which I thought was interesting) and had been made using a panini press. We all loved our sandwiches and ate every morsel. There's a lot to love about this place. If you're looking for all show and no go, this isn't the place for you. If you like a good sandwich in an already to go fashion, this is it!...
Read moreSandwich of the month isn't the best. They have done much better. Service is so-so, but they seem to get it done after a while. HOWEVER, I've dropped my praise of the place for a specific reason. When checking out, the machine popped up only two very high tip percentages. I don't think their service is so awesome that they deserve a tip, but the requested amounts are about what I would leave for a full service restaurant. The workers here are paid full hourly wages. They are not tip jobs. The rates are an insult to patrons. And probably incentive to think about...
