Our family was so excited to stop here in our way home from Maine to Virginia. It took us about 5 hours to get here and we were sooooo ready to stretch our legs and eat some food. We were very disappointed. We did an hour of bowling, food, and a few arcade games. My husband runs a very successful boutique bowling alley so my kids and I are familiar with how things work in this kind of environment. When we entered the establishment we were asked if we were dining or bowling, we let the host know we’d like to do both. It took a bit to get our shoes as she was tending to other things at the counter, the manager was speaking to a couple about their unpleasant experience. Once we got to our lane our server came over to take our drink orders. She was very pleasant and was sure to engage our kids, something I think is very important in a place like this. We got our drinks promptly. We placed our food order and waited....and bowled...and waited...it took nearly 40 mins to get our food! By this time our kids were HANGRY! they didn’t want to bowl any more because they were hungry and cranky. The food y’all.... I can’t even think of a word to describe how awful it was. The kids portions were tiny! They got like 6 French fries, I’m not even joking. My husband has never ever sent food back.....his chicken sandwich was so over cooked he could hardly choke down one bite. We asked our server to take it back. She was very sweet about it and insisted he get something else, so he ordered a burger. It was mediocre, at best. All this food drama while we are trying to enjoy a game of bowling. After he finished eating we asked for our check, the server explained she was able to take the chicken sandwich off but we had to pay for the burger because she wasn’t a manger or something. No problem! We had been looking forward to going here for so long and we were so disappointed. The food was just awful, the lack of management presence to handle situations like this was sad, not that I would want to admit I was in charge of such a terrible kitchen. The bowling itself was ok, it’s definitely novelty bowling. I don’t think the lanes have ever seen oil. The arcade was huge but costly. I’m sad to say we will...
Read moreI tried to make reservations for my daughter birthday and was told by Ashley that I cannot book reservations, it's a first come first serve basis. I decided to celebrate my daughter's party there by renting a lane.. I arrived and was greeted by Ashley, and requested a lane and presented my Groupon. A friend of mine I knew came and rented a lane for her family as well. Ashley told us we could not use our Groupons because we are together.. If we use our groupon, we will be placed in lanes opposite from us and not next to eachother. BUT.. You are willing to put a family next to us, with no masks increasing our risks to Covid 19.
I asked for a manager and Ashley said fine, he will tell you the same thing. The manager came over stating he thought we were a family with the 40 people party and need to be divided due to social distance. We can get two lanes.. I asked Ashley, Why I could not reserve so my daughter can have guest celebrate with her? Ashley looked at another co worker, and ignored me. Ashley rudely proceeded with us only giving one lane or the wait will be 2 hrs. So we decided to take the one lane and Ashley stated that we still cannot use our groupon, but the manager said we could... So we were escorted to our lane and another family that came in 15 mins later was placed next to us not wearing a mask at all.. RISKING US TO COVID 19, we shared the same bowling guard and all.. 😒
Ashley came over to the lane and a server will be with us shortly. No one ever came. We went to the bar to place our food and drink order. The bartender takes our order and money; and began making our drinks without any GLOVES OR MASKS ON!! NO HAND WASHING NEITHER!! 3 of us order the shrimp all day dish and when we went back to the bar for the shrimp refill, the bartender said ok. Ashley comes over to the lane and asked can she see our receipts to double check for our refills. Remind you, she never checked to see if we are even being served.. Ashley made my experience horrible, I will not be...
Read moreMy cousin moved to the area so we decided to take a day trip up and hang out. Uncle Buck’s is a fun family spot. Walking in there’s so much optically to excite you. The ceilings and walls are beautifully done in an aquatic them with sharks and fish and coral in a 3D decor, if that’s what it’s called. It’s so much you can almost miss the details but if you take your time you appreciate all the creativity that went into this place. They have an arcade, bowling, a dining room and even a casual bar. The menu had a good assortment of options and even some surprises like alligator fritters and wild boar burgers. None of wanted to try that but we got a good laugh at that and I’m sure some other adventurous eaters love it. The service was welcoming and friendly and the manager walked through the dining area checking in with customers. The atmosphere was pleasant and the dark decor gave the feeling of being on a boat. Our food was good and not overly seasoned. The crab cakes were the best and the blackened tilapia and grilled shrimp in lobster sauce was so filling I came home with leftovers. After dinner the kids played in the arcade while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive to start bowling. The bowling lanes were so much fun to play at. There were glimmering lights which gave the optical illusion that the fish were swimming along the walls and through the space above the lanes. The score boards were modern and up to date, although it would have been great if the screens were bigger. There were tables for food and drinks at each lane which was nice for the late comers in our group. I was really impressed with the bowling shoes. They were a sneaker hybrid, not the old fashioned hard bottom shoes. So they were comfortable and flexible and had good traction on the lanes. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will...
