Being in walking distance from me, I figured I HAD to try this place out. It did not disappoint. First, the outside is very inviting with the tented seating tables. I could see going here with a friend or even on a date. Inside was very clean. Plenty of tables. There's a TV and a bathroom. I was immediately greeted with a wonderful aroma. However, I noted I was not greeted by the staff (until I said hi!). I did say I wanted to look at a menu because it was my first time here. The gentleman didn't really try to help me in choosing anything, but fortunately, being vegetarian I could make my way through a vegan menu just fine. The bang bang cauliflower tacos grabbed my attention. The female subtlety made me feel it was a good choice. I asked the gentleman what the patties were, there was kanaloa, beef, fish and another I forgot. I got the kanaloa. Then I could not just simply glance at the desserts on the counter without trying something. I noticed some labeled VEGAN, and some labeled ISH. He explained ISH indicated there is dairy. I had no problem with that, I asked for the Cinnamon bun. I was wrung up and took a seat to wait. It was maybe 10 out so minutes before the gentleman brought my bag to me. That was a nice lil touch, rather than yelling out a name, especially in such a small intimate space as this is. So upon getting home, I opened up my meal. It was very VERY nearly packaged. I tried the patty first. It was flaky and flavorful. Moist! Next the bang bang cauliflower tacos. Just WOW! Now let me say this, I love me some cauliflower tacos. I make them often. But I have not really gotten into the whole bang bang sauce craze. But I have seen the light. I should have got two orders! Lol...! When I tell yall I made love to those tacos. The sauce was dripping down my mouth, it was obscene. So lastly, the Cinnamon bun. Now i haven't had one of these in decades. My experience normally was they were more dry, doughy, and not enough cream. Well! Either Cinnamon buns have come a long way, or this chef has the magic recipe. The bun was moist, decadent, cinnamony, and a perfect cream to bread ratio. I can't say enough. I'm trying to get rid of this big back and now this place won't let me. I will be back. And I'm bringing...
Read moreI've heard such great experiences about this restaurant. I've been wanting to try for a while and finally made my way down. The atmosphere was very nice and inviting. When I arrived there was a group sitting outside and another table inside (which I later found out were the owners) myself and son sat inside. We were greeted by the waitress. She was very polite and kind. She stated to me "it's my first day" and I understood completely. We ordered our food, and I am very understanding for prep time of food especially when it's made fresh. That was about 25-35 min no big deal. As we're waiting, the waitress comes over and gives me a "vegan mojito" which was pretty good and then the second time around came back with chips and dip to hold us over until our food arrived.
Our food arrived, and as my son and I were eating the waitress comes over to say "I'm so sorry to disturb you while you are eating, but we have a new policy where you have to pay for your food beforehand"... NOW i'm not upset about having to pay for my meal BEFORE eating. I'm genuinely pissed this new policy was all of a sudden implemented while i'm in the middle of eating. All while we were sitting there for about 25-35 min waiting for our food, Why wasn't I asked to pay then?.. You wanted me to get up in the middle of my meal while leaving my son at the table to pay for my meal?.. I was so confused, annoyed and pissed. I politely asked the waitress to wrap everything up to leave. The waitress kept saying "i'm so sorry, I've never heard of a policy like this". The entire time in there we were greeted twice by one of the owners. As we approached the counter to pay the waitress again, was being very polite and professional but the owners said not one word to me...
With this being my first time, it was not a great experience at all! I'm very disappointed in the lack of communication to a customer and in the manner in which...
Read moreI've been an ethical vegan for over ten years and I get so stoked to check out new vegan and vegetarian places, especially if they're local. I really appreciate what Veganish is doing but I had such an underwhelming and disappointing experience.
I HATE to give plant-based food places a bad review, because so many mainstream eaters (especially the diehard meat eaters) make fun of us or treat our food like a joke.
But I also want to be honest and to hold this place to as high a standard I do all the restaurants I go to. Because of the limited menu offering (which should've been more widely announced) and a lack of allergy-friendly offerings I was stuck ordering... a salad.
I was crying internally as I ate a $17 salad with ingredients I literally had in my pantry and fridge. But I met a friend there for dinner and when I was told that there was basically nothing on the limited menu I could actually eat, I felt obligated to buy something that I already eat many times a week.
The outdoor seating was nice and I do appreciate how patiently the owner (?) was with going over the ingredients in the dishes but damn. A vegan stuck with a salad at a vegan restaurant.
Please do better...
