So I found out that there are two Yard Jerks and since I love the one on East Main I thought I would try the one on Housatonic which is 1 mile closer. I loved it! My brown stew chicken was awesome, tender and flavorful. And the woman that served me was so nice. This will be my regular place for Jamaican food going forward! Update: today I tried Jamaican curry for the first time, goat for the first time and tried them together. It was pretty good. Goat seems lean, with not much fat. It has a different, slightly gamier taste, but not too strong. A lot of little bones. For the curry I was expecting a coconut milk flavor like in some Thai or Indian curries I’ve had, but there wasn’t any. Overall this was pretty good and flavorful. The women at the counter were very nice, same as last time. Next items on the list to try are: jerk pork, pepper steak and fried chicken!

If I could give this less than 1 star, i absolutely would. In the past, this place was really good. Now, I feel like I have given this place 1 too many chances and their rice constantly disappoints me. The rice tastes like it’s at least 3 days old. It tastes stale. I didn’t even know if stale could be a taste but they made it possible. I am completely flabbergasted as to how such an establishment is still standing. Their Brown Stew Fish was utterly disgusting. The “stew” was so thick, it felt and tasted like straight up ketchup. I wiped as much of the “stew” off, hoping to salvage the fish but the fish was over cooked. I even took it up another notch and added Matouk’s Hot sauce to it and I still couldn’t get the food down. The cabbage was probably the only possible good thing on my plate and even so it wasn’t seasoned. I absolutely hate wasting food, and yet I had to throw my plate out. I feel like I was bamboozled. The workers were decent. Not nice but not rude either.

Some of the Best Jamaican food in Town. Tons of flavor, seasoned well, herbs and spices. The food is always fresh and tasty. Everything is hot and fresh and prepared well. They also have a great $5.00 lunch special that includes a soda. The service is outstanding always friendly and accommodating and the portions are generous. I love this place, whenever I'm in the mood for breakfast or lunch during the work week this is my 1st stop.
