Where do I begin? They had a valet parking and the kid doing it was so rough on the cars slamming them into park, then the got nothing right inside. It was freezing inside so I asked for a coffee, the waitress brings out black coffee filled to the brim with no milk or creamer, so she brought out milk and I had to sip black coffee enough to make it light, then she brought out a second coffee filled to the brim again with no milk so it just sat there and she asked me if it was okay, and I was like not really, it’s black filled to the brim and there’s no milk for me to put in it or any room in the mug, then she brought out another cup with milk that actually had room for milk. Then Karissa asked for a coke and they brought her an iced tea, and then when we ordered I got a steak dish that was like $37 and there was barely any meat. I also asked for it to be cooked medium well and when it came out it was still bleeding. Then the waitress asked me if everything was okay and I was like not really, nothing had been done right this whole time. There was an issue with the coffee, we couldn’t get a coke the first time around, and I asked for my steak to be medium well and it was still bleeding and she was like would you like me to bring it back? And I said no, at this point there’s been so many screw ups I don’t feel comfortable sending anything back. Then she disappeared and I had to ask a bust boy for the check. I definitely won’t be going back and I can literally get a better steak at ShopRite for a fraction...

A great first time experience for my wife and father. Went out for a nice quiet dinner, and had a wonderful time at the Martinsville Tavern. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was calm but pleasant. We had the deviled eggs and meatballs for appetizers. The eggs were sharp and rich, and the meatballs were some of the best I'd ever had (Don't tell Grandma) with a wonderful sauce and stracciatella on top.

For mains, my wife had the Tavern Orichiette, which she enjoyed immensely. My father tried the lasagna, its more free-form than traditional but still really tasty. I had the Hanger Steak which was one of the best I'd ever had. I normally get my steak well done which makes it a bit tough, but even done correctly to where I wanted it, this steak was still amazingly tender and flavorful, and the sauce was great.

My only complaint, and the only reason that I gave 4 stars, was that the custard for the creme brulee seemed to be unsweetened, or too lightly sweetened. That might be a difference of opinion between myself and the pastry chef, regarding how much sweet the sugar on top brings to the table, but I thought it was a bit bland because of that. Not enough to mess anything up, but I'll definitely be trying the s'mores brownie, when we go back tomorrow night with the in-laws, instead.

Would happily eat here...

My boyfriend and I have had the Martinsville Tavern on our list of places to hit for months. We finally got around to visiting a few weekends ago and are SO glad we did!

They had just opened up some additional outdoor seating that day and we were lucky enough to secure a table. Our expectations for dinner weren’t too high but we were quickly proven wrong once our dishes arrived. We ordered spinach artichoke dip, chicken francese, and the “chef’s favorite” pork chops. All were phenomenal. It was apparent that the spinach dip was made in house and not just reheated. The chicken was perfectly cooked and came with whipped potatoes which were amazing. My boyfriend loved the pork chops as well.

Servers were kind and I felt very safe eating there with an allergy. Our water was filled multiple times throughout our dinner. They also brought out sourdough bread for our table which was an unexpected (and yummy) surprise. I had two glasses of the red sangria (which is my go-to drink at many places) and I think Martinsville Tavern’s is by far the best I’ve ever had. Like I would go back solely for this sangria. All in all 5/5 experience. Definitely give Martinsville Tavern a go if you’re looking for great drinks and...

This was our first time here. We started with the classic Caesar salad and signature fried calamari. The calamari was very delicious and well balanced! The Caesar salad wasn’t really for us. You could tell the dressing was house made - but perhaps because of that the balance was off and made the salad hard to eat. For mains we got the tavern orecchiette and the butchers hangar steak. The pasta was alright but perhaps needed something more to make it more interesting. The steak was requested medium rare, but arrived medium. The marinade was super delicious. The potatoes needed seasoning as they did not have much flavor. For drinks we ordered an amaretto sour and Martinsville sour. The martinsville was very tasty and made well. The amaretto was odd. I’m unsure but maybe there were bitters on top because once it was stirred the taste became unpalatable. For dessert we got the skillet cookie. The ice cream was tasty but the cookie had an odd consistency. The service was exceptional with quick attention when needed. The atmosphere was nice, but the tables are close to each other making it easy to overhear other conversations. We probably won’t come back.

This place was awesome. After our bike ride at Chimney Rock, we did a quick Google search and voila a few minutes down the road. We got there right when they opened. It is on a major road with plenty of parking in the rear. The staff at this shift were very accommodating. They sat us in the front of the building. Which looked like a new addition. Empty wine glasses where out this place looked snazzy. The majority of the group ordered the Brisket sandwich while two odd balls ordered the burger. The burger looked juicy. The brisket was tasty, but the amount of fries we all got were disappointing. I wouldn’t even say just right. More fries would of been appreciated. Will come again if I am in town to try other dishes.
