I waited a few weeks for the opening kinks to be worked out to try the most hyped restaurant opening in Brig. I can sum it up in one word: “OK.” While the online ordering is very easy and convenient, be warned you will pay a “technology fee” for this service. (Please, please, PLEASE, other Brig businesses—DO NOT adopt this practice.). The price of a plain is $22 (before taxes and fees). If I got any toppings or a specialty, I’d be north of $30! (For pizza!) A quick look at the other locations of this chain show they are about $2 cheaper than Brig. (I guess we have to pay a “downashore” tax?)
The pizza was ready within a reasonable amount of time. 10 large slices. Honestly, it was just OK. Yes, everyone knows it’s square. Yes, everyone knows sauce on top & cheese on bottom. Yes, everyone knows this is just a gimmick. They must have sliced the cheese like prosciutto—so thin, because I barely saw or tasted any on there. And the sauce was OK; tasted processed and pre-mixed out of a tin can. The sprinkle of dried oregano helped a little. And the crust was, you guessed it, just OK. I’ve made rectangle pizzas using the frozen, thawed dough from Acme that tastes pretty much identical. Some might better classify as a “tomato pie.” My tip if that’s what you’re looking for…try Aversa’s just down the road. In my experience, bakeries make better tomato pies anyway.
In all, it wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t something I’m going to crave or wait for in the summertime when lines are out the door with shoobs giggling because they just ordered the “sauce on top” pizza. Chains don’t always survive in Brig. Personally, there are many other pizza places that have been on “the rock” longer than many people that now come here have been alive...
Read morejust to start I ordered my food at 6:48pm I did not walk out with my food in hand until 9:21pm. I called at 8:10 to ask roughly how much long my order would take as it was not updated on the track my order, they said about 30 more minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later and continued to wait until 9:21pm for my food. I ordered 3 penne alla vodka and 1 small personal plain pizza. there were several people that have voiced that they were waiting for their orders for 2+ hours as well. mean while this whole time waiting they are continuing to take orders and telling people about an hour - hour an a half. I truly felt bad for the front house staff as they all looked frantic and over working yet could barely give an answer on how long our food would be. they should have stopped taking orders if they could not fulfill their promised by time. not once were we offered any compensation for our wait, as well we had asked to speak to the manager and they did not end up coming forward. The front staff was respectful but the food was ok and certainly not worth a...
Read moreFamily owned restaurant, and they treat you like family here. The pizza was delicious, the owner said they do killer cheese steaks so next time I go that's what I'm getting along with a couple slices. Upside down square is my favorite slice and my son favored the margherita slice. You can't go wrong here, fresh ingredients that stay true to the original santucci's. It's hip to be square! It says it on the wall so it must be true! Square pies are the norm here but they will make a round pie by request. It gets busy late afternoon so get there early and enjoy your food. Truly a great addition to the lovely town of Brigantine. Stop in and get some slices you won't be...
