This place was one of the many restaurants voted in for best pizza in ct in the first round of a contest held by a CT news channel. I decided to give them a shot because I have never heard of them before. I told them that it was my first time trying them out and I was surprisingly treated with hospitality. After that it went downhill and I never got treated with respect again.
They are inconsistent with their pizza (most of the time tasty but other times as if someone doesn’t care about their reputation) employees are disrespectful and the owner/owners couldn’t care less what’s going on with their business. I called to order some sandwiches to try out around 8:03pm on a night that they closed at 10pm. A girl/lady replied with “we don’t make sandwiches at night”. I told her “ Oh okay, that threw me a curveball. I’ll look at the menu again and I’ll call right back so that I don’t tie up the lines”. I called back at 8:07 and I was forwarded to the “store is now closed”voicemail for 20 minutes straight. Normally when it’s busy, either the call doesn’t go through or I get put on hold. I left a voicemail with my complaint and I heard nothing back.
Businesses are dropping like flies, you think you’d care more as a business owner if your employees are treating your customers this way. Pizza is sometimes the best and sometimes overcooked or underwhelming. Their other food disappoints. I’m over it and I used to brag about their pizza. It’s not even worth it anymore. I make my own pizza or order from George’s in...
Read moreWriting a review you have to be fair. The food is always good 4 to 5 stars. I'm writing this review because of the customer service or lack there of and their inconsistent policy. My wife and two young kids went to go pick up our order, but it was a Friday night and they had a line. Their policy is one person at a time in the store which is very understandable given covid. My wife having two kids with her realized that it would be too difficult to carry the kids and get the pizza. While in the parking lot in front of chunky tomatoes, my wife asked if they could make an exception by phone, not once but twice. The girl on the phone said no, they couldn't do it and that she would have to take the kids out of the car to line up. Okay fair enough, rules are rules and these are their rules. My wife then called me to leave work to get the pizza instead. I got there and waited about 15 min to get my pizza. To my dismay a young lady walked out three pizzas to a car parked in front. I said to another person there, wait, I thought you don't walk pizza out to the car. She said well they were waiting in the parking lot. I told her what happened to my wife and she knew what I was talking about but all she said was the circumstances were different because they waited. My wife waited too. Like I said I respect rules that business have, but randomly applying policies leaves me...
Read moreI have been to Chunky Tomato several times this time was a very big disappointment. I ordered a stromboli to bring to a party which I have done many times and when they brought it out it looked a little bit dark and I don't know what made me turn it over and when they brought it out it looked a little bit dark and I don't know what made me turn it over but I did and it was black. The owner was not there and the staff was very rude to me especially the man that was in charge. He said it's not that bad and when I say it was black it was. I can't believe they were going to let that food leave their establishment. If I had gotten to the party and they went to slice that up and saw it was totally burned I would have been so embarrassed that didn't seem to make any difference to the man In Charge that day. They told me I can take it for free or they would make me a new one. I had to wait for a new one to be made and told them I was not paying for it. They lost my business not only for the burned stromboli but for the rudeness...
