I went to a bridal shower this weekend at Jackie’s. The weather was 90 degrees, hot and HUMID outside. The air conditioning was not working properly in the room that we were in. The hour of setting up we were literally dripping in sweat. We hoped it would cool down eventually, but it did not. Myself and several other guests complained to management a few times and were told this was the coldest it would get in here. The shower itself was beautiful and food was great, however the 80 degree temperature in a room of approximately 50 people was terrible and extremely uncomfortable. We unfortunately had to rush through everything because we all couldn’t wait to leave and get somewhere cool. Another guest mentioned coming to a party a few weeks ago in the same room and the AC was not working properly then either. This was no “accident” or unfortunate event. It was a known issue that wasn’t resolved and we had to pay the price, full price actually. There was no discount given to the couple that booked the event either for the huge inconvenience. Based on this experience I would NEVER book another party here and will second guess going to any party that is hosted there during the summer months.
We made the best of it, however everyone was a sweaty hot mess in all of the photos....
Read moreFirst time at this restaurant, my friend and I were exploring the area for local restaurants and it seemed this was a good choice... we were wrong. While their Lot it was great even though a little expensive for 8 small little rolls. the gyoza was bland even with though quantity was worth the price. The only reason it has two stars is the miso soup was okay and probably the only item worth it’s price. Another issue occurred with the Philadelphia roll, which is my go to when a sushi menu is over whelming. The salmon in said roll was, one warm like it’s been sitting out and two you can tell it’s not the freshest piece of fish because of the whiteish tint that the pink takes on if it’s either been frozen or in a fridge for multiple days. Then the last major issue was with their Mongolian beef. That, that was a disappointment; there was next to none spice to a dish that is well known for spice and flavor; was lacking both. The beef was also dry and rubbery.
Next time I’m going to save the trip and just go to Luke’s inn that was recommended...
Read moreOk, I've been going to Jacky's for years then, I move to the East Bay area and there a Jacky's in Bristol. Well it's WAY more expensive and the servings are smaller. I took my daughter there today for sushi. I got a Salmon Maki. It was only $6 so, I was surprised until it came and it was half the width of a regular Maki with the tiniest piece of Salmon. The Cambodian Lot (which I've been eating since grade school and grew up with some Cambodian girls who's parents made me yummy food) was also half the size of every other Asain restaurant I've been too for $1 more. There no mint in the Nime Chow. I got an 8pc tempura. It was 3 really long this shrimp (?!?) and 5 vegetables. Ok, I'm down. Well, I got it to go do, I didn't know 1 of the 5 veggies was the top of a pepper including the stem. I'd say they specialize in Sushi type food not Vietnamese or Cambodian. This is definitely my last choice in the state....
