My review is minus one star. My husband and I went to Leo's Ristorante on Sunday, April 30th at about 1:30 pm. The restaurant had only two tables that had customers. We waited at the door several minutes before we were finally recognized. One of the servers was busy taking an order and the other server (Alyssa) was busy texting. We were finally seated. Reviewed the menu and had several questions regarding the preparation of the eggplant and the Veal Parm. The texting server which we learned later was Alyssa became our server. I asked her questions regarding how the dishes were prepared and she had no idea but said that she would check. My concern was the wording in the menu that the Eggplant Parm was "Layered breaded eggplant baked in Leo’s classic Marinara and topped with melted provolone. Served with a choice of pasta $18" I questioned if it was fried. Was told that it was fried but not in a deep fryer. The fact that it would also be baked led me to believe that this was an authentic Italian recipe. My husband ordered Fish & Chip. When our orders came, we both questioned the meals. The eggplant parm looked like fried breadcrumbs with melted cheese on the top. My husbands fish & chip had the same breading as the eggplant. We both questioned the dishes to the server. I tried what was suppose to be the eggplant and it was completely undesirable. My husband's fish wasn't much better although once you took the breading off, the fish looked OK. Our server returned and asked how the dishes were. I told her that the eggplant was absolutely awful. She was snarky and returned a comment to me that no one has ever had a problem and that the food is delicious. I couldn't believe that a server would speak to a customer who was dissatisfied with a dish in such a manner. She offered me another dish but I told her that I would just eat the pasta. Never brought the issue to the kitchen and then avoided us during the rest of the service. We were charged for the full meal. I was very upset and decided that our best option was to pay our bill and leave. I can't image that the recipes being used was those of the founders Leo and Gina. If you want authentic Italian food, Leo's Ristorante is...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Leo’s Ristorante, I had the opportunity to savor a variety of dishes that collectively painted a picture of the establishment's culinary prowess. The Pomegranate Martini, featured as the Cocktail of the Month, stood out with its well-executed blend of sweet and tangy flavors. The visually appealing drink set a positive tone for the meal ahead. Moving on to the appetizers, the Calamari was a standout dish, boasting a perfect balance between a crispy exterior and a tender interior. Accompanied by a zesty dipping sauce, it made for an enjoyable start to the dining experience.
My friend and I decided to share our entrees. The Pasta alla Antoinetta, showcasing Italian sausage and rabe, demonstrated a commitment to authentic flavors. The savory Italian sausage and robust rabe melded seamlessly, creating a hearty and satisfying dish. The pasta, cooked to perfection, provided a solid foundation for the flavors to shine. Then, the Linguini with White Clam Sauce was a seafood lover's delight. The al dente linguini paired with a rich and flavorful clam sauce offered a well-rounded and enjoyable dining experience.
Concluding the meal with an Almond Moka Cappuccino was a delightful choice. The almond undertones added a subtle and pleasing twist to the classic cappuccino, while the velvety foam on top provided a comforting and indulgent finish. Throughout the dining experience, Leo’s Ristorante demonstrated attention to detail, emphasizing genuine flavors and satisfying portions.
In summary, Leo’s Ristorante offers a commendable dining experience, combining well-crafted dishes with a focus on authenticity. The diverse array of flavors, from the refreshing cocktail to the hearty pasta dishes and the satisfying cappuccino, make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a satisfying and flavorful meal. I look forward to returning to explore more of their culinary offerings...
Read moreSorry about the bad review Leo's Restaurant but every word is true. Just want to add that my girlfriend and I aren't food critics but go out to dinner at least twice per week and have logged some serious time at Italian restaurants from Providence to Boston (but mostly on the South Coast).
Arrived to be seated outside with reservations. Chairs were located in a pile of dried leaves from last fall. Had to move them away from the building to see my feet. Waiter was OK but at times inattentive. Bread was brought with a small ball of butter. Girlfriend and I didn't have side plates or utensils /napkins so we waited... and waited until I finally got up after 15 minutes to chase down waiter's assistant to ask if she could help us. Meals were not up to par with the ravings of other Google reviewers. Chicken Parm and Chicken Marsala had all the moisture pounded out of them. They were tough chewing and neither on of us finished out of chewing exhaustion and bland taste. Girlfriend had to search for any sign of melted cheese on her Chicken Parm. The sauce on my Chicken Marsala was watery and I was unable to discern whether it was made with dry or sweet Marsala wine. Needless to say, we didn't stay for dessert. Very disappointed on a beautiful night at 7pm last Friday. Needless to say, we won't...
