NY Best Bagels? More Like NY Worst Service!
I have never in my life experienced such awful customer service as I did at NY Best Bagels. Let me start by saying that the name is a complete joke because NOTHING about this place is the “best.” In fact, it’s the worst bagel shop I have ever stepped foot in.
First, the staff here are beyond rude—like, shockingly rude. It’s as if they go out of their way to be as unpleasant as possible. The second I walked in, I could feel the negative energy radiating from behind the counter. No greeting, no smile—just an annoyed glare, like I was inconveniencing them by daring to order food. When I asked a simple question about their menu, the employee rolled their eyes so hard I thought they might pass out.
But the real kicker? THEY TALK ABOUT CUSTOMERS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. I kid you not. While waiting for my food, I heard them loudly mocking another customer who had just walked out, making fun of the way they spoke and calling them names. And when they thought I wasn’t paying attention, I caught them snickering about me, too! Excuse me?? This is a business, not a middle school lunch table.
And don’t even get me started on their shady pricing tactics. These people overcharge you every single time. Not by a little—by A LOT. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, which was listed as $4.50 on the menu, and somehow my total was nearly $10. When I questioned it, they gave me some nonsense excuse about “extra cream cheese” (which I never asked for) and a “small price adjustment” that was never mentioned anywhere. They will nickel and dime you at every opportunity, and if you don’t check your receipt, you WILL get ripped off.
Oh, and the food? Definitely NOT worth the attitude and the upcharges. My bagel was stale, the cream cheese was spread so unevenly that half of it was dry, and the coffee tasted like burnt dishwater. Honestly, I’ve had better bagels from a gas station.
If you enjoy being disrespected, scammed, and served mediocre food by people who clearly hate their jobs and their customers, then by all means, go to NY Best Bagels. But if you value your dignity, your wallet, and your taste buds, stay...
Read morePros: Tasty food with fresh ingredients, lots of diet-friendly (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free) options, clean both in store and in the back from what we could see. The coffee in particular was a star. Cons: Slower service, some confusion with the order, high prices.
My mom and I popped in to check this place out on a whim. The store itself was incredibly clean, sleek, and modern, giving a "high-end deli" vibe. We ordered 2 bagels with cream cheese, an egg sandwich, avo toast with eggs, a hot latte, and an iced java chip coffee. The coffee, surprisingly, ended up being the star of the show. The woman who took my order accidentally gave me a frappe/blend instead of iced (she was very sweet about it and offered to correct it, but I told her not to worry), and funny enough, it was by far the best tasting item of the bunch. Perfectly sweet, well blended, great coffee flavor. My mom said the same about her latte. The egg sandwich was solid - nothing to rave about, but what you would hope for from a deli boasting fresh breakfast options. The roll was fresh enough and the cheese was very melty. The avo toast was also solid - I felt like the seasoning was a bit light, and could have benefitted from something added (cayenne, like or lemon juice, etc) for a kick. The avocado was fresh and the egg was perfectly over easy. The bagels were good - a lot thicker than most of the local places, but still soft and freshly made. The cream cheese wasn't bland, which I liked, and had a stronger acidy taste (I wonder if it was homemade?). I'd recommend these over the other options we got, for anyone curious. The total for our order was $37 - quite high for what we got. The avo toast, although you get two slices, alone was $11, which I felt was very high for what you get. I think it can be attributed to location. Overall, a solid bite and we will be returning to try other items. Worth your time to...
Read moreGiving this place a 1 star because the service was terrible and they intentionally added on extra charges. The food itself was decent, but service was bad enough that I won’t be going back. The girl with the braces behind the counter was rude as soon as we walked in. She seemed annoyed that we needed a few minutes to figure out what we wanted to eat (this was our first time ever at this place), got even more annoyed when my friend asked if the chocolate croissant she ordered could be warmed up, and then when she handed me our iced coffees and I asked where I should grab straws she actually rolled her eyes at me and said very rudely “I put the straws in the bag.” Then to top it all off, when I looked at the receipt after we left, she had charged me an extra fee for a croissant for their Federal breakfast sandwich, which is advertised as a croissant sandwich already. Please tell me how that’s acceptable? Save yourself the terrible service experience and just go to Bagel Man instead right...
