The Other Curmudgeon says:
the others in my party all got rice bowls, that is, rice with some commonplace ingredient: one salmon, one tofu, one chicken teriyaki. They all thought it was fine, except the teriyaki sauce was thin. (And you'd kind of expect that dish to be served with teriyaki sauce; we had to ask for it. Maybe they just forgot?) Those things ran fifteen bucks each, which seems a little high for what they got. I was the only one who ventured to try a ramen dish: Tonkatsu, which consisted of two slabs of pork belly, bamboo, mushrooms, bean sprouts, fish cakes and a boiled egg in a "creamy, rich pork broth" for $17.50.
The dishes came out at leisurely intervals, but at least by the time the last one finally arrived, there was a table available inside. We'd been outside at first, with the mosquitos, so were relieved to move indoors; except that they had the doors propped open, so the mosquitos moved with us.
Pork belly is normally like a cross between bacon and gratons. It is delicious. A little bit fatty, yes, but firm and so full of flavour that it's like the word "delicious" was invented just to describe it. This pork belly was nothing but fat, flabby and with the texture of slices of toast soaked overnight in salt water. The mushrooms were some repulsive rubbery strips of black that looked and felt like tar pulled from a telephone pole in mid-summer. The fish cake -- there was only one -- was about the size of a half-dollar and the thickness of a quarter. At least it tasted okay, and had a reasonably piscine texture. And there was half a boiled egg that looked funny -- it had a reddish cast to it -- but tasted okay. I was thoroughly revolted by the whole giant bowl of mess. I ate the fish cake (two bites) and the noodles (which were fine) and the egg (despite the colour), but the pork belly and the mushrooms, plus the terrible saltiness of the "creamy rich pork broth" made my stomach turn. I tossed it in the trash, rather than tossing it later on in...

I dined at this spot around 7 PM with a group of four. The restaurant has a small, intimate setting with only a few tables for groups, which adds to its charm. The staff were exceptionally friendly, making our visit enjoyable from the moment we walked in.
What We Ordered:
Beef Rib Ramen: I couldn't resist trying their famous Beef Rib Ramen. The broth was flavorful with a nice kick, though I found it a bit too rich and creamy—almost reminiscent of a curry broth. The beef rib was tender and fell right off the bone, coated in a sweet and tangy sauce. It also came with a half egg, which was a delightful addition. I’d rate this dish an 8/10.
Crispy Pork Katsu: The crispy pork katsu was another highlight. It was perfectly crispy, but I recommend taking it out of the booth to avoid sogginess. The accompanying broth was also quite nice.
Plain Ramen for Kids: We ordered a plain ramen for the kids, which I personally preferred over the beef rib version. The plain broth had a simplicity that was very satisfying.
Room for Improvement: One area that could use some attention is the napkins; they could definitely invest in better quality ones to enhance the overall dining experience.
In summary, this ramen spot offers a warm atmosphere and delicious food, making it a great choice for a casual dinner. I look forward to returning and exploring more...
Read moreMe and my buddy came here to check it out because we are always on the hunt for new ramen and pho places. Walked in and 1st thoughts was it looked pretty authentic and really nice cozy vibe. You walk up to the counter and order what you want and they bring it to your table. I ordered pork belly appetizer and brisket ramen. The pork belly was absolutely spot on, nice fat cap that was bursting with flavor. It was also perfectly cooked so it would break down and fall apart very easily. The ramen was fair. I was a little underwhelmed by the size of it. I'm used to much bigger bowls at other restaurants. The other thing that I wasn't a fan of was the flavor. I'm a big brisket eater and it tasted burnt. Overall I was satisfied with it, not my 1st pick but I'd try it again and try a different ramen. Lastly the price was a little on the high side but if the flavor came up a bit for me I'd say...
