So first off, I came here exclusively because I’ve been hunting for Petit Fours all around Atlanta with no success for some reason. I came here this morning because one of the reviews (about a year old, so I took that risk) stated that this place has the best petit fours… well. They don’t have any. At all. So my hunt continues.
That said, I still wanted to give this place a solid chance so here’s the real review:
Atmosphere: pretty clean, though a tiny bit chilly- mine today we are having 68 degree weather in July, so I’d be willing to bet this is just the odd of circumstance. Music choice is like 40’s-50’s and I’m here for the vibe. There is also plenty of outlets and space for people to study or bring work computers and chill- that alone is always a huge plus for me.
Food: The prices are reasonable. My husband got the French dip and complained a bit about the size being pretty small for the price, but we both got sandwiches and coffees for $30; which is about right in these post-COVID times. My sandwich was a ham, egg and cheese croissant- it was good, but the ham was VERY salty. The coffee is good, husband says it’s “mid”, completely unremarkable (he drinks it black). I got a white mocha and mine is quite delightful- I forgot to ask for half sugar, something I’ve had to do at most restaurants recently, but I actually don’t need that here because it’s not sickly sweet. Big plus there.
The Sweets: now of course, the reason people go to a bakery is for breads and sweets, so I’m separating this too. The shortbread cookies are similar to my mocha - not sickly sweet. This is a HUGE win for me, in today’s age where Americans can’t seem to get enough sugar, I appreciate when we have genuine recipes with quality before addiction. The shortbread is delightfully light, airy, and a smidge sweet - the icing adding most of your sweetness.
Service: There is a lady behind the counter that pinned me for being new and kept checking on me and making sure I knew how they worked. I really appreciate that and she may be the manager (and if she isn’t, she deserves that) as she was running a tight shift and keeping things moving. Another lady at the sandwich counter helped explain that I ordered the sandwiches with them and then paid at the bakery end. Overall, everyone is pretty friendly and in a more approachable way and not over-the-top.
Overall, I would come back here- but I wouldn’t go out of my way. Thankfully, there are multiple locations of Henri’s, so I’ll be trying another one as well on my endless hunt for Petit Fours and...
Read moreI just came in a tried to order a cake for a friend’s birthday this weekend and they told me that they could not fulfill a requestfor yellow cake with chocolate icing in store… at a bakery. I was informed that they can only take an order at the store for chocolate cake w chocolate icing or yellow cake with vanilla icing, but that I could call the area manager to make a request and then pick it up at that same store that I was already inside of trying to order the cake from.
Despite the fact that this makes absolutely no sense… I called the number on the business card they gave me. The area manager (Tarik) picked up the phone but the connection on her end was absolutely horrible and it was nearly impossible to understand her. She kept saying that she could hear me perfectly but also kept asking me the same questions over and over and over again about when I wanted the cake and what kind of cake I wanted. I kept repeating myself until about the 5th or 6th time when I finally just said please forget about it and cancel the order. It should not be this difficult to order an extremely simple yellow cake with chocolate icing at a “bakery”. I will not be returning to this Henri’s location...
Read moreI placed an order at the Brookhaven location for a custom cake. I spoke on the phone with a baker who ran the online orders. While the staff who directed my call as well as the staff in store were lovely and kind, the baker who took my order was impatient, spoke to me in a condescending manner when I was attempting to clarify the requests I made on the online form. I was willing to pay a good bit for this cake as it was for a special event, I ended up paying a little under $90 ( which included gratuity). When I received the cake one of the major details I had asked to include were completely missing. It wasn’t an extravagant cake but I did have a particular theme in mind which I clarified in my form, and on the phone, so the cake I ended up with was quite plain looking. I was willing to look past this since I picked the cake up the day of my event, however when I actually served the cake it was lacking in flavor and the cake itself was extremely dry. If not for the kind service I received in store the whole experience would have been negative, I have heard great things about the deli items and coffee but would not recommend the custom cakes. I hope others have a more...
