Ambiance: Everyone had calming and positive vibes. They immediately offered water or tea to drink, a coat rack to hang ur hoodies and other stuff on, and it was fairly warm, which is great considering the chilly weather. The decor is simple and yet fun with knick knacks or trinkets in small spaces and yet a vintage yet modern decor theme.
Everyone was very friendly and even partook in open positive and funny conversations, which lightened up the space and made it welcoming.
Quality & Service: I had my first appointment here with Lauren - I was beyond nervous with dry scalp, dead ends, and having had bad experiences in the past but she was so kind, gentle, and open to conversation (or not if you're more quiet like me) as well as was awesome with giving tips and tricks. It took me less than an hour for an evaluation of how/where my hair is at plus wash and cut. They worked with my budget in terms of being able to take off the blow dry portion to reduce the cost but still use a towel to scrunch the excess water out (since it's winter out an all) which was very considerate of her. Every step was asked for approval before and / or information on why she was taking certain steps would be given in advance, like if I needed the deep conditioner or whatnot, which I appreciated. I had trouble since I forgot my card but was able to pay via venmo and cash I had on hand- I was grateful they had a quick work around.
Additional perks: Usually open after 5, quite a few stylists for your needs, whether a simple cut or cute and extreme coloring and styling.
I will definitely be returning and have already made a follow-up appointment. Knowing how expensive and questionable local cuts can be in the area as a student with a budget and limited time, this place is worth every...
Read moreSarah cut and colored my hair, but my poor experience goes beyond her.
I got a very poor coloring job that trashed my hair, errors in booking, a mis-quoted price, and a terse, unhappy stylist. I should have got up and walked out, but I apparently left my spine at home yesterday.
Long story:
I called for a quoted price for a double process color and a cut, with Olaplex. I was quoted a reasonable number, and booked my appointment. I show up, and had been booked for a single process. The stylist was annoyed, and I could tell she thought I'd described the wrong thing. I have a platinum pixie and well know it's a double process for roots, and asked for that.
Anyway, I have to remind her to put the Olaplex in. She'd started painting bleach into my hair before I thought to check, and she had to run back to the bowl to do it.
The bleach job was overdone, and I honestly don't know if she toned my hair at all. She said she did, but there wasn't the two applications I expect with bleach and toner.
The cut was sloppy, and she was very rough with my hair despite me asking her to be careful with my sensitive scalp. She yanked, and seemed frustrated that I asked her to be gentle.
My hair is yellow, too light, and FRIED, even with Olaplex. The curl pattern is gone. I specifically said that if she didn't think she could do something and maintain the texture, not to do it.
I go to the register to pay, and It's $50 more than I was quoted.
I got upset, because at this point the whole experience was unpleasant.
The salon gave me a total refund, but I can't get my hair back. Even for my pixie I'm looking at 6-8 months to regrow it.
Don't go here. Don't...
Read moreI was really hoping to be able to work with the team here. I called almost two weeks ago about setting up an appointment, a slightly exasperated person told me, after explaining what I was looking for (cut, lighten, tone) that I would need to send an email and send pictures of my hair before they would consider an appointment. No my usual experience but not completely unheard of. Sent the email with the pictures and have now sent a follow up with no response. I would have hoped if they were not interested they would have just told me. They seem really fantastic but I’m not sure why they didn’t want to...
