1970....it was a very fine year. The year I graduated high school, and the year Luigi's opened. Since then we both have gone through a lot of pizzas! Life is good....
Amazing then, that my Fab One and I just discovered this little Brooksville gem! But better late than never, I guess.
Tuesday night, I grabbed my girl, we headed out for a mighty good bite. Walking to the door I held her hand, letting her know that I'm her man.
The enticing aroma of garlic and sauce(gravy to some) carried us from the car to the door. Teasingly toying with our senses these scintillating scents drew us in. Immediately greeted and seated by Miss Karen H, we were surely feeling welcomed!
The warmth and personalities of the folks at Luigi's is a breath of fresh air. Or of pasta. Or of all things great about Italian food. Service here is TOP NOTCH! Friendly, professional and constant contact equals YES!
Karen told me the Soup of the Day was Clam Chowder. She had me at 'Cla....'!!! I ordered a 'cup', which was actually what other restaurants would consider a large 'bowl', but for the cup price! The soup was creamy delicious with big chunks of clams and potatoes. I'm sold!
My Fab Bella Signora ordered a small Luigi's Special Pizza, with onions, pepperoni, sausage, peppers and mushrooms. She was 'dough'-lighted with this cheesy wheel of flavor! I tried a bit of a bite, and I liked it, too. (I know she has good taste, after all!) LOL
I went straight for the venerable signature dish of Napoli, lasagne di carnevale, or as we know it, lasagna. A good version of a lasagna dish will let you know immediately if the kitchen is cooking Italian or just cooking 'Italian-style'. Luigi's is definitely the real deal Italian faire. The lasagna Karen presented to me was a perfectly layered mountain of mouth-watering pasta, sauce, meat and 3 different cheeses. Che buono! So good!
Dinner also includes salad and some wonderfully buttery, garlicky bread sticks. Pull apart fresh and steaming hot, these sticks struck me and my baby with a big YUMMM!
Our date night couldn't have been better. We felt like we were back in high school and we'd had one of those perfect nights out, meeting new friends and enjoying special food.
Take a date, or your longtime mate and enjoy. Please tell them John &...
Read moreAmerica - Do you enjoy horrible service, rotten ice tea or eating off silver ware with dried food stuck it ? Yea I didn't think so, that's why i highly recommend to you DO NOT eat at Luigi's Pizza. My dining experience went like this - While driving down restaurant row in Brooksville we decided to go to Luigi's Pizza. After ordering our food and receiving our beverage's we told our waitress that everyone at our tables ice tea tasted rotten to which the waitress literally sneered at my family with a hateful glare and snatched our glasses off the table. Upon finally returning with our food and beverages i told the waitress two of us had rolled open our napkin to find our silver ware was dirty with visiable food stuck to the forks and knife's. With a hateful tone of voice the waitress told my family "everyone make's mistakes" and we agreed. The waitress then brought new silver ware rolled up in a napkin and i pointed out that the new silver ware also had piece's of food visibly stuck to it.The waitress then told my family in a hateful tone "leave and never come back". My family had been eating at this place since they first opened many many years ago in the old Publix shopping center when they had pride in their food but we will never ever go back. The food is over priced the ice tea is rotten and the silver ware is dirty [ can you say "food poisoning" } and the wait staff is horrible and very rude. The management and staff obviously doesn't realize that it's us - we the people - that have supported them all these years and it is us -we the people- that will shut them down, not to mention that in any business the costumer is always right [especially when there is dried food visibly stuck to the silver ware]. As a writer and blogger for national dining media I write and blog restaurants all over America and I will include Luigi's Pizza in the list for "The worst place's to eat...
Read moreI want to start with saying I have been coming here with my family for over 15 years.. never had a bad experience and talk highly of this place.. NEVER again. I was disgusted by the service. We spent over 45 mins here and we were suppose to receive our bread with our salads like every other table around us. We asked twice and did not receive the bread. We ate our entrees and still did not receive our bread. I walked up to the counter to ask for the bread and the nasty waitress with dark brown hair, mid 50s, and rough looking skin turned around and said 'what' rudely and then when I asked for bread she said 'i don't know and not right now' with a smirk on her face and then she put her hand in my face and waved me off and turned back around. I then asked OUR waitress again for bread and as I was talking she turned around and walked off and returned with to go containers. I was in no way rude, I said please and thank you everytime I asked.. I wasn't disrespectful at all and to be treated with such disrespect and ignorance is shocking. A small town like this and a local family owned business having someone so disgusting and rude working out front acting the way she acts so rudely and putting her hand in people's faces and waving them off like a child.. we are paying customers and have been loyal customers to this place.. never again we will be going to papa Joe's from now on where they appreciate paying customers and families and we will spread the word. Get it together will all these restraunts being built and a nice Italian restraunt 10 mins away and the community being so small you'd think you'd have half decent service. Appreciate the 15 years of family dinner and memories but I will...
