Unfortunately bad service. The place was not even half full. No host or hostess to show us to a table. A waiter was talking to another person by the entrance. I told him we were a party of five and all he did was look around and point to a table where we could fit. 15 minutes waiting and no one had come to ask for our order or drinks. I stopped one waiter that was on his way back in from the patio. I asked him if he could send someone to serve us; he said he would get someone to help us in a few minutes. 3 minutes later another waiter came to ask what we wanted to drink we ordered 2 waters 2 lemonades and Miller 64. Not much of a selection but can you believe they didn’t have that particular beer. Ok, I had to settle for a Miller Lite. I mean if you are going to offer something that’s on the menu, you should have it on stock, right? Anyway, the 1st waiter comes back and asks us what we wanted to drink. I told him a 2nd waiter already had taken the order. The guy said oh, ok, and was walking away when I stopped him and told him “Hey, but if you don’t mind we are ready to order our food, can you do that?” He reluctantly had to take our food order. He came back with appetizers in intervals. I guess a plate of Panchos and a molcajete of queso fundido was to hard to manage on one turn. Then we get the main course which was a parrillada. Since, we had to wait so long, everyone dug right in. The Panchos were finished, the queso fundido was finished, and the parrillada was more than halfway done. Not once did the 1st or 2nd waiter come back to ask if everything was fine or if we needed anything else. It just happened that I saw the 1st waiter passing by again and I had to stop him so he could come over. I asked him “Hey, do you know how much longer is it going to take for the frijoles charros to be ready (since they come with the parrillada)? He paused and noticed he had not brought them and said he would do so immediately. 2 minutes later he brought us the beans. At that time my sons took advantage of asking for more lemonade since their glasses were empty but the waiter did not bother to ask if anyone was okay on drinks or anything else. * By the way, the water and lemonade was TERRIBLE! not worth the price that it’s sold at. Tasted like tab water with lots of ice and not the right formula to make a good lemonade at all. Finally, once finished, I had to track the waiter down again and ask him for a to go plate and the bill. Well guess what? The rice that we ordered was charged but was never served. Can you believe that? Unbelievable right? Anyway, got our left over food. Took the bill to the waiter and paid him. I informed him that the rice was never served and told him he could keep that charge as part of his tip. Really.... not a nice a experience for taking out the whole family out for diner there for the first time. I doubt there be a second. The food was not bad but salsa needs...

Recently my family of four visited this restaurant. Our overall experience was horrible. We ordered three unsweet teas and a lemonade. All three teas were thick consistency and tasted horrible. Almost like drinking water with a gel-like substance. We ordered quesadillas as an appetizer assuming it would be a tortillas with melted cheese and fajita ( we asked before) and instead received EXTREMELY greasy empanadas, as pictured. You can see the amount of napkins it took just to clean and squeeze one of them (which is all we ate). Then, as soon as we finally received our food, a server comes and asks if we are going to need our table? We had literally just got our entrees but since we got seated next to a party this server thought it would be a great idea to take our table and have my family and I move to the outdoor patio when it was cold. We sarcastically responded we unfortunately needed the table to eat our food and she rolled her eyes and said "Okay ESTA Bien (okay it's fine)!" With an attitude. Then to top it off a male server started to purposely bump into our chairs every time he would pass so we realized they just wanted us to leave. We didn't eat not even half our food, we paid well over $90 and left. We love to support small businesses and what we wanted was to enjoy a good Mexican meal after a long day and instead got the worst experience ever. My suggestion, go spend your money...

I give this restaurant three stars and a "SKIP" on the next trip.

I visited the location on a Monday and was immediately greeted by the staff. I was provided my choice of seating arrangements which ultimately I chose to sit at the bar. Being from Houston you always look forward to getting good quality tacos when in the valley.

I decided to spring for the Ribeye tacos and a nice strawberry Margarita to wash it down with. Now, I dont consider myself to be a heavy drinker. In fact, I rarely enjoy a frozen Margarita. As for this one, if there was a shot of Tequila in the drink I sure couldn't taste it.

Moving on, I was pampered with a bowl of fresh chips, pico and TWO bowls of different salsa. Certainly not short in this area but it did have me curious as to how the food would compare.

A short time later, my food arrived. The tacos, were abundantly covered in fat trimming from the ribeye steak which was pretty disappointing. The chewy mixture was about 50%/50% and really distracted from enjoying what actual meet was in the tacos. One would think that Ribeye tacos wouldn't be stuffed full of fat filler.

If the extremely lean Margarita wasnt an indicator the fat scrap ribeye tacos certainly were. I guess the intent is to fill you up and intoxify you...

This was my first experience in this restaurant. Because of some reviews I read online, I had a preconceived idea that the food would be subpar and overpriced. I'm happy to say, I was wrong about the first part. The food was scrumptious, however, in my opinion, the menu items were pricey. I decided to go with the enchiladas, which surprisingly were the least expensive, but asked for my order to be customized with red sauce instead of green and fajita instead of chicken. I was very pleased to see that my dish was well served! It came with four stuffed enchiladas, beans, and a simple salad. The fajitas were very tender; everything was flavorful. The ladies that accompanied me were also pleased with their dishes - with the exception of the rice. When the time came to pay, we noticed that the 18% tip was automatically included in the tab, which my table frowned upon. The tip for my tab was just under $4, which I thought was reasonable. All in all, I was quite happy with my visit to Mi Pueblito. I will be looking forward to having the chance to visit again.

Always an excellent experience here! I've have been here two times now with my fiancé as he is a Brownsville native and (luckily) is fluent in Spanish. I, however, don't know a word of Spanish save for how to order food. They do initially speak to you in Spanish, although I am 100% sure they would speak in English if you asked them to do so. I have eaten the Fajitas Guadalajara and can't get enough of these! They are served in a mocajete and are steaming hot and so delicious. They even have grilled nopales, which is something I love but is hard to find in my native San Antonio. We also always order the queso fundido with chorizo which is delicious, authentic, and a generous portion for two. Their margaritas are amazing as well! Their mangonada margaritas are phenomenal. The mango tastes so fresh. Definitely a must try if you are in the Brownsville area.

1st time here, wanted to see whats all the hype at this place (moved here from DFW/SA travel USA/International). Clean area, good atmosphere, could bring out the music (seemed boring area). Food: Beans charo's was actually good, chips/salas not bad but the $59.99 Parrillada (3 ppl): chicken was dry (outter season ok) but no flavor, the ribs (gave to my dogs, no meat/grease), other meat was like chewing gum. Everyone has different taste, different order plates, but after this experience will be my last visit. Brownsville is all abiut Taco's and HAVE not once seen a real old Mexican homemade authentic plates that i've visited in DFW/SA/Houston and up north. This place is all show (high class $$ food, not worth it). Pollo Loco has better chicken than this place, just saying.
