I have been here twice, once for my birthday, and 2nd time because I was the winner of the $100 monthly giveaway. Both times I liked it, but I do feel like there's just a little bit missing for the 5 star experience.
Food has great flavor. The yucca is cooked to perfection. I do feel that the picaña was a little overcooked on both occasions. It could be because it's served on sizzling hot skillet so it keeps cooking after it has left the grill. It is impecable presentation every single time, so A+ for that. Our food was delivered fast both times as well.
Drinks: I go specifically for the Caipirinha! It is a must at any Brazilian restaurant. Both times it has been on point. I will point out that we ordered the Brazilian lemonade the 1st time for my son and then on my 2nd visit for my friend because my understanding is that it is non-alcoholic. Well, my friend's had alcohol in it this time, she did say she wanted a mocktail when we ordered. Server needs to be mindful of this.
Atmosphere : it is beautifully decorated, very posh and perfect for photos. Great for date night or girls night for sure! My only complaint was that it was hot this last time.
Service: Everyone greated us with a warm welcome and smile. I do recommend that they ask if any special occasion is being celebrated. On both occasions I was not asked. However they did ask if it was our 1st time dining. I think it is a perfect opportunity to showcase their signature dishes or providing with a great recommendation to the guest. Owner did stop by our table to welcome us the 2nd time I went. On both occasions we asked for a to go box and it was nicely packed up for us.
Definitely give this place a try at least once when you're in Brownsville. It's great to have a restaurant that is locally owned and operated..... better than leaving my money at a...
Read moreSo I went in with a friend last night she had been there before but I had not. Were one of the last tables of the night right before closing. Our server was Matthew and he was great. Normally when you get there right before close the staff will have attitude but not him. He told us to take our time and enjoy our meal I was very impressed with positive attitude, he was just on point the whole time. I ordered the wagyu which was awesome and my friend ordered the filet (well done) we got it and it was medium. Matthew grabbed it immediately apologized and got it taken care of and I over heard him letting the kitchen know to make sure it was well done. We are in the restaurant business ourselves so we know how it goes and he could have been annoyed or rude but he wasn’t he actually started a conversation with us. The person I was with didn’t speak any English and instead of saying I don’t speak Spanish he switched over to Spanish even though he admitted he was working on his Spanish he still tried to oblige her and actually did a great job. The steak came back and was cooked good the second time. Towards the end of the meal he joked so how many tequila shots are we doing? We said what do you recommend. He went straight for the DJ1942 which I love because being in the business myself I love the upsell so we took 2 1942 shots. The guy is an excellent server, Sodres is lucky to have him. The food was excellent minus the little hiccup with filet not being cooked well done but it was corrected. We both left totally happy campers, we will be back and if anyone who reads this wants an excellent night out. Ask for...
Read moreWent here with my wife for the first time and it was a really good experience and the staff was so attentive. Down below are the two plates that we tried and that we definitely recommend!
956 Burger 🍔 This plate was a perfect combination of comfort and flavor. The burger came on a soft, glossy bun that held together well, with a thick slice of smoky, crispy bacon peeking out—adding just the right crunch and richness. The patty was juicy and flavorful, pairing beautifully with the fresh toppings and creamy sauces served on the side for extra customization. The fries were golden, crisp, and sprinkled with fresh green onions, making them addictive and satisfying. The pickle spear was a refreshing touch, cutting through the richness of the meal. Altogether, a hearty, well-balanced dish that leaves you full and happy.
Chicken with Creamy Mushroom Pasta Review 🍝🍞 This dish was a real treat both visually and in taste. The creamy mushroom sauce was rich and velvety, coating the chicken beautifully without being too heavy. The chicken itself was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, enhanced by the earthiness of the sautéed mushrooms on top. The pasta on the side was cooked to a perfect al dente, soaking up just enough of the sauce to make every bite satisfying. The toasted bread added a nice crunch, perfect for dipping into the creamy sauce. A well-balanced plate—comforting, hearty, and...
