Will not be returning. The service today was uncalled for. Tried to call 3 times to place a pickup order and they didn't answer the phone. While I was waiting in the drive through line a man came and knocked on my window & yelled "hello" trying to get my attention. Ofcourse it caught me off guard and when I rolled down my window he immediately asked if I placed a phone order. When I said no because no one answered the phone he rudely responded with well we're really busy right now as you can tell. There was no hello how are you, I work for the restaurant, or anything polite. I gave him my order and that was that. I wait a bit longer & make it to the window. The same man is there & he immediately just tells me my total. I pay for my food, get it and as I'm about to leave I am the one that has to say thank you have a nice day because the employee did not give any positive communication. As I was saying thank you he shut the sliding door. I could tell this person was probably overwhelmed and busy which I get, However being polite and having customer service skills is very important in the restaurant business. He was just flat rude. And a restaurant doesn't get to be both. If you have an old rundown building with mediocre food you better have some really friendly staff! Thanks- that's just my two cents. Either way since we have such an over abundance of taco places in the area La Familia in Bryan will no longer get...
Read moreI've eaten here since the early 90's. Let me first say I do like the food here. Especially the salsa. Food used to be better although never really came to me hot rather less than room temperature. The salsa was hotter than the food was. The last handfull of times my husband & I went there their food wasn't at the proper temperature there were flies everywhere & nothing was done about it. Yes, this should've been our last time going but since it was cheap we went anyway... We arrived there for their breakfast over an hour after they opened a few months ago & their buffet table did not have the food at correct temperature. Both of our plates had to be reheated. Instead of adjusting their temperature on the buffet the waitress turned the ceiling fan down!!! The knobs on their buffet table were either missing or so worn out that you couldn't even read the temperature on them. Both of us got severely sick after this visit therefore we felt this needed to be our last visit. A call was placed to notify health dept about this since employees obviously ignored our complaint several times about the temperature of the food. I guess they can care less about the importance of food borne illnesses due to improper food temperatures. Be careful if you go & your food isn't served hot. I expect mine to have steam coming off it...
Read moreI visited this place when it was busy, which gave me the impression that the food must be good, considering the number of people coming and going. I ordered a large Menudo, which cost $16.51. That seemed steep, so I asked about the portion size and was told it was 32 ounces. Normally, when I order a 32-ounce Menudo, it comes in a quart-sized container specifically meant for soups—not a drink cup like they served it in. That difference threw me off.
I then asked about the smaller size, which was 20 ounces, and they charged $14.50 for it—only $2 less than the large. In my experience, a 32-ounce Menudo typically costs between $10.99 and $12.99, so their pricing was way above what I’ve seen elsewhere.
I regularly try Menudo at different places, and while I’ve seen prices go up to $12.99 for a large, I’ve never paid $16.51. The woman at the counter seemed annoyed, and I’m not sure if it was because of my questions or something else.
Despite the price, I remained optimistic. However, when I arrived at my destination, I was disappointed—the Menudo was cold and lacked flavor. The corn tortillas were fine, but the Menudo itself was overpriced and one of the worst I’ve had in the past 10 years of seeking out the best. This place might have great food, but their...
