This review is made hoping the restaurant can view the opportunities of becoming better.
We were a party of 4 visiting Downtown Bryan and decided to have lunch in the area. When we found two corners offering pizza, we decided to try Mr. G's, even when reviews told us next door pizza was better, we didn’t want to follow other people experiences and gave them a chance.
Customer service: Needs to become better ASAP. We entered and waited some minutes to be seated, the lady that greeted us took our drinks order, then other lady brought the drinks. Unfortunately when she was handing the drinks she had an accident and dropped half of the cups spilling part of the drinks on me and the other to the floor. She apologized, changed us to another table and brought the missing drinks, which it was the right thing to do. We could tell she was young and perhaps new in the job; maybe she was feeling appalled; sadly after the incident all the service felt really awkward. She took our order and when she brought the plates and napkins we felt she was doing it in a rush. At the beginning she only brought 4 napkins. When we asked for extra she only brought 2 more. We asked for the ranch order at the beginning with the pizzas; it was brought by the other waitress almost when we were done, then our assigned waitress came with another bowl of ranch. I don’t know if it was her way of having a courtesy with us, but we were almost done and to be honest the ranch dressing isn’t so good or a great option to offer a courtesy to clients, especially when they are almost done.
The pizzas we ordered were brought according to what we asked. The time we waited was ok. The Margherita had really good dough, but in matter of taste, we have tried better ones in other restaurants. The Philly steak pizza was really good (dough and taste). When we were finishing our meal, the lady came with the payment terminal and asked if we were ready for the check, again we felt kind of rushed. She didn’t offer a pre-check, just gave us our total and my husband handed the payment. Afterwards the check was brought and boxed the remaining slices.
We understand errors can be made, but they need to work better as a team and customer service; perhaps they need extra waitresses and to train their people on how to treat clients in different situations.
I was interested in visiting a Friday or Saturday Jazz night, but after today’s experience, I might need to...
Read moreIn a heartbreaking encounter at Mr G's Pizzeria, I was met with a disturbing lack of respect from the manager. Ignoring my concerns entirely, I witnessed a cockroach outside, stuck to the glass. Adding to the nightmare, a hair was discovered in our Greek salad, and the dishes were disgustingly dirty. When I requested to speak with the manager, I was met with arrogance, rudeness, and utter disregard. Although the waitstaff was friendly, my girlfriend's encounter with a roach on the glass shattered our experience. We called the waitress, who promptly addressed it. Unfortunately, the plates we received were filthy, but again, the waitress kindly resolved the issue. However, as my girlfriend began eating her salad, she encountered a hair, unknowingly consuming it before realizing, leading to a nauseating experience. Notably, we frequented this place at least once a month due to my autistic son's love for it and his difficulty with new environments. Seeking to express my disappointment, I approached the manager, known for my politeness, patience, and etiquette when dealing with others. Despite being disappointed, all I wanted was to be heard. However, the manager's arrival was accompanied by a negative attitude, not allowing me to speak, even though I tried to explain the situation. His initial response regarding the cockroach was that he couldn't do anything because it was outside. I countered, stating that I was speaking about the overall experience, including the dish cleanliness. Concerning the hair in the salad, he dismissed it, stating, "We all have hair," as if it were a trivial matter. Just as I was about to explain that this was my son's favorite place, considering his autism, he silenced me and told me to go enjoy my weekend elsewhere. I assured him that payment was not an issue and that it was not what I desired. Honestly, an apology, which I never received, was all I needed. I had intended to take my son's meal to go, pay the bill, and never return. However, as I reiterate, he neither apologized nor listened, ultimately ruining our Father's Day eve and, most importantly, shattering my child's beloved place (he cried the entire way home). My question remains: was this due to my Hispanic background, an act of racism and discrimination, or simply a case of someone failing to...
Read moreI am a doordash driver and the older lady at the front was very rude and tried to force me to take a margarita pizza when that was not my order. I explained twice that the margarita pizza was not mine, but the rude older lady wouldn't listen. I also find it VERY UNPROFESSIONAL to have a 5 year old at the hostess table without a mask. Kids are able to spread covid 19 so thank you for bringing your kid without a mask to work. Great job helping THE stop of covid 19 in the Brazos valley. The older lady also told me they always put their calzones in pizza boxes LOL. How are you going to put a gigantic calzone in a regular pizza box? Thank you for not providing a to go box that you could easily order just like every pizza place that sells calzones as well. When I walked inside there were multiple people not wearing masks and not social distancing. I have reported your establishment to the city of Bryan as a business that is not following mandated masks and social distancing. The ownership needs to get a grip and realize their mom and pop shop is not exempt from the covid 19 rules put in place by the governor of Texas. One more thing, buy a stupid box that holds your calzones properly. If the box is open even when inside a pizza hot bag, it can still get cold. If you close the pizza box you squish the calzon. This is not rocket science people. I have lived in B/CS since 1998 and it blows my mind a place can be this out of touch with truthful reality of a situation. I honestly can't figure out how that older lady with the 5 year old is able to work there as rude and misinformed as she is. She tried to force me to accept a wrong order.........multiple times......not my fault you can't comprehend what I was telling you. I have a job to do and you almost forced me to make a serious mistake because you have to be right and in control. I would like a follow up conversation with the owners of Mr. G's Pizzeria because these issues need to be addressed right away. IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE STAY AWAY FROM THIS...
