Food is pretty decent, not bad but overpriced. Server was nice. However I went to Rosie's taco shop next door when tempo wasn't busy (also because tempo is a dinner restaurant and it's noon) and there was MAYBE two tables sat out of the 30+ they have. Asked if I could bring my tacos from Rosie's to their outside patio because there was LITERALLY 1 table sat outside and 1 inside. They said "no you can't sit there, they're reserved for our customers"... ummm what customers lady? There's no one here? "You still can't sit there". Okay biotch, you'll never catch me coming there again. Talk about top notch customer service and common sense. Easy to say there's a reason you work as a server there where not much common sense is needed.
Edit/Reply: Well, well, well, aren't we the sanctimonious one? Let's start by saying that your pompous attitude is about as appetizing as a week-old dumpster sandwich. First off, if you’re a "lunch" restaurant, then I'm the Queen of England. You serve food, sure, but to call it a "lunch" would be an insult to the concept of meals.
Secondly, if your patio is so heavenly that it can't bear the presence of food from Rosie's, then why is it always half-empty? Could it be that people prefer to get their food from a place that doesn't treat them like unruly children?
Your claim about the mess left behind by Rosie's patrons is a pathetic attempt to shift the blame for your own failings. You run a restaurant, cleaning up after customers is part of the package. If you can't handle that, might I suggest a career change?
And about your so-called "strict policy", it's as hollow and baseless as your argument. Your policy seems less about cleanliness and more about your own prejudice and snobbery.
As for your comment about me being the exact person you don't want on your patio, the feeling is mutual. I wouldn't want to spend my time in a place run by a pompous, self-righteous tyrant.
The most "disturbing" thing about your comments is your utter lack of customer service and basic decency. You seem to forget that the customer is the reason you have a business in the first place.
Lastly, the fact that you don't "need or want" my business is the icing on the cake. It's clear you're more interested in posturing and grandstanding than actually running a successful restaurant. Thanks for making my decision to never set foot in Tempo again so easy. Enjoy your...
Read moreWe arrived at Tempo Urban Cafe at 7:04pm on March 14th 2025, A FRIDAY NIGHT. Upon arrival we were told there was a MINIMUM of a 1 hour and 15 minute wait time. We decided to sit at the bar and eat.
We received the menus and ordered a drink. At 7:22pm we began to order food but to our surprise, the appetizer of oysters were out of stock and the 2 entrees we desired were out of stock. The dishes we could not get were the 2 reasons we came to this restaurant. In all, 2 of the 3 Oyster, Short ribs, Meatloaf and Cheesecake were OUT OF STOCK.
AT 7:22pm, 5 items were already off the small menu they had for our meals. Matter of fact, 14 main or appetizers were OUT OF STOCK as I discovered from their website this morning. I asked 3 times to speak to someone in management and they stated the owner was in the building so I said “sure, either would be fine”. I even went to the host stand to explain the issue and some rude person named Lissette nastily stated she would find them. NO ONE SHOWED!
Lastly we ordered asparagus to be cooked with no oils of any kind. It came out dripping, an oil and a fried egg on top with an abundance of salt and pepper as well that is not even remotely close to what we ordered. Also, the meal took over 45 minutes to arrive and the asparagus took another 10 more minutes. When we received the check, we were charged $30 for three orders of asparagus which had to be corrected. They were out of out of stock on 14 items. How does it happen to a restaurant on a Friday night?
For the second seating, half of the tables were empty and then, we received a text that a table was ready.
Let me clarify: a. 41% of apps and main entrees were not available on a Friday night before 7:20pm. b. The items OUT OF STOCK were noted on their website but those items were not taken off the restaurant menus.
The only thing good about this experience was Mel and Jessica. They were both 5 stars. The rest is why I gave this restaurant 2stars. Jessica and Mel were professionals, in spite of the chaos created by the “leadership” of...
Read moreUpdated review March 2025: They have gone through a major renovation of the interior, and it looks great! The food is still fantastic, but they changed the menu, and everything is À la carte. Last visit: there were 3 of us, and we all got an entrée protein and 3 sides that we shared. We had a total of 4 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, and 2 beers. The total bill was a little over $300.
Original review 2024: We sat on the patio and really enjoyed our evening. The chairs aren't the most comfortable, but the patio itself is great. They have several heat lamps, so you stay cozy. I had to start with a cocktail and went with the espresso martini, which was yummy! I also got another cocktail, which I can't recall the name of, but it was bubbly, in a champagne glass and very fresh and citrus flavored (no, it wasn't a mimosas). For food, we started with the mozzarella sticks, which are huge! The description says the sauce is spicy, but I didn't get a spicy flavor. The crust was crispy and cooked perfectly. We also got roasted shishito peppers with cojita cheese and tajin. They were delicious, although I thought they could have used more of the cheese and tajin. For entrees I had the striped bass, I think I misread the description because I thought it was served with potato, tomatoes, and capers. But when I only saw one tiny piece of tomato I mentioned it to the waitress and she said it was a tomatoe beurre blanc, so she got me some of beurre blanc; which was delicious but tastes different from the sauce that was already with the fish. My husband got the braised short rib, and it was fantastic! Next time I want to try the chicken French and lobster Mac, I have heard they...
