I recently stopped by the Lloyd Taco Factory at 492 Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo to try their much-talked-about "Big Lloyd Burrito," and let me tell you, it’s a beast worth wrestling with. As someone who’s been curious about Lloyd’s take on Mexican-inspired eats, this location’s vibrant vibe—complete with graffiti splashes and a laid-back industrial feel—set the stage for a solid meal. The "Big Lloyd" itself is a nod to classic American flavors wrapped in a tortilla. Packed with local pasture-raised ground beef, cheddar, romaine, pickles, onions, a special sauce, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds, it’s like a burger and a burrito had a delicious lovechild. The beef was juicy and well-seasoned, with that melt-in-your-mouth quality you’d hope for from a place that prides itself on hormone- and antibiotic-free meats. The special sauce—tangy with a hint of sweetness—tied it all together, while the pickles and onions added a crisp, zesty punch. The sesame seeds? A subtle touch that made me smile, like a little wink to its burger inspiration. Size-wise, it’s hefty—I’d call it "uncomfortably large" in the best way possible. The flour tortilla held up admirably, though I’ll admit I needed a fork to tackle the last few bites as it started to unravel under the weight of its own glory. The romaine and cabbage (a Lloyd signature) gave it a fresh crunch that balanced the richness, and I couldn’t resist adding some pickled reds on the side for that extra zing—pure genius, those onions. At $12.29, it’s not the cheapest burrito in town, but it’s a meal that justifies the price with its quality and sheer volume. The Elmwood spot was buzzing with families and folks grabbing drinks at the sprawling bar, and the service was friendly and quick despite the crowd. I didn’t venture upstairs (it’s not fully open yet, I hear), but I’m already plotting a return for when that patio overlooking Elmwood comes to life in the spring. If you’re in Buffalo and craving something bold, flavorful, and a little unconventional, the "Big Lloyd Burrito" at Lloyd Taco Factory on Elmwood delivers. It’s not just a burrito—it’s an experience. 4.5 stars—docked half a point only because my table manners suffered...
Read moreI ordered the Tricked Out Nachos (+Chicken) through DoorDash, and while the flavor profile of the meal was decent, the toughness of the chicken was impossible to ignore. It took twenty minutes of flossing to get every hardened piece out of my gums— the chicken was either old (I ordered around 1PM) or had been extremely overcooked; it was also mixed in with the queso, which I would have preferred the items be separated and not come in the same container, but I digress. The pickled onions were delicious, though! Also, the guac does NOT need garlic! It was perfect guac quality but authentic guac doesn’t have garlic in it— it overpowered the guac in flavor. Overall, I might order again, but will save myself the extra dollars by ordering the nachos without chicken and pass on the...

Come back next time having a better...
