By this point, the faithful Google review reader should have a fairly solid grasp of exactly how depressing Bullhead City is.
Chili's adds to this storied history by continuing the age-old capitalist tradition of offering limited choices and higher prices. We arrived with a family of four (due to my eldest daughter finishing her shift at the coal mines to pay for our decadence). When we arrived we were meet by a hostess, who seemed confused by our presence.
Eventually we were seated, and we ordered an appetizer called "Awesome Blossom". I'm not sure who came up with the recipe, but I like to imagine that they were running late to work and forgot about their assignment.
Chili's Awesome Blossom is approximately 8 beer battered onion rings that have been fried, cut in half, fried again, and hurriedly thrown into a metal cup. I've seen better culinary presentation in prison. All this comes at a paltry price $6.99. I feel blessed that this dish only came with a 6000% mark-up.
As for the main course, my four year-old throughly enjoyed his 1/2 box serving of $.88 Kraft macaroni and cheese. He was taken aback by the close attention to detail. The chef ensured that the inside of the scooped mac and cheese still had those beautiful ice crystals, while the outside remained approximately the same temperature as the sun. As if this weren't enough, my son was also given 1/15 of a mandarin orange which had been aged to perfection beneath the Mojave desert sun. I told him to follow the instructions of the hallucinations.
I chose the aptly named "Chili's Chili Burger". The waitress, noticing that I was on the heavier side, did me a solid by ensuring that there was only a teaspoon of chili present on my burger. She also took special care to only place 17 french fries on my plate. Speaking of the plate, it was roughly the size of a small Cessna jet. Which made me feel better on an emotional level because I felt like I didn't have much food, despite consuming enough calories to feed an African village for weeks.
Not yet content, we ordered a dessert. I'm not sure if the name, and I apologize. I'll try to be descriptive. You know that one desert? You have to. It's the one that tastes like a piece of bread that feel in the sink for a week that you forgot about. Then your boss shows up and wants desert, so you take the sopping bread out of the sink, roll it in sugar, douse it in carmel and chocolate, microwave it, put ice cream on it, drop it on the floor, then cover it in carmel again because it covers the dirt. That one. That's the one we ordered.
After spending time together as a family listening to a woman in her 60s drunkenly scream obscenities, we asked for the check. The waitress motioned to the kiosk at our table. I picked up the device and was perplexed, probably due to my only having a bachelor's degree from the Midwest. I chased down my waitress and informed her that I had yet to have the microchip implanted, and thus would needed to pay in cash. She accepted my archaic method of payment, and upon realizing that I left her approximately a 45% top, walked away without a word. Her steadfast effort to remind me that perhaps mankind is just not worth it, will undoubtedly change my future dealings with people.
THANKS CHILI'S OF...
Read moreWe ordered a 3 for 10 received the soup, the soda and the crispy chix the manager on duty served us up our meal. As we were eating it the chix was dry and hard on three pieces. I gave most of the plate back to the server, he asked if I wanted to talk to the manager and I said no. I have learned from Chilli's it is not worth it and this time was no different. The server came back to our table and said he still talked to the manager and she did her magic on the computer.and took care of the meal. Now remember the meal was 3 for 10 dollars. She took somewhere $11.31off I think. I bought Texas fries and the Milton desert and with tax 19.06 I think. When the waiter came back I gave him a 25 dollar chillis card as well as 5 dollars. I tipped him around 11 dollars for doing the right thing. That was until I looked over the bill remember the 3 for 10. I was now charged for the soft drink as well as the soup this was suppose to be included in the 3 for 10. I showed this to the waiter and let him know while I gave him a generous tip for doing the right thing. The tip would have been larger had his manager who by the way served me the food did her magic and made chillis the approx of the 3 for 10 meal she was taking care of. I asked the server who got screwed in this deal him or my family, The manager screwed him over because his tip would have been a few dollars more than what I gave him. I also asked who was responsible for bringing out my food the cooks or her. I let him know she was responsible because she served my food and accepted the quality of the chicken the moment she pulled the order for my table. The waiter was the best waiter I have had in a long time with Chilli's because he cared enough to take care of his customer. His manager is the one who showed us Chilli's is going to get their dollars no matter what. Thank you for showing this family you will never change by screwing the customer each time. I let the waiter keep the receipt because I felt like he was trying to do the right thing. He said he was going to talk with the manager. My visit date 1/19/2019 I think the time we left was after 8 pm. The reply I received from Chili's was contact us tell us more and we will take care of you as a customer. My question is simple why was I not taken care in the first place. How do you fix something that was taught to your staff. You company has changed but not...
Read moreOne of the things I like about Chili's as a chain is that in 2014, Chili's installed over 45,000 Ziosk table top tablets in their restaurants. These tablets allow you to play games while you're waiting, to order beverage refills, to order desserts, and best of all the tablet will allow you to run your credit or debit card so you may pay your bill and leave without having to wait for a server.
The drawback to this (at least at this particular restaurant) is that some servers won't ask if you're going to pay via the Ziosk tablet. They'll bring you your check, often in the middle of your meal, and often without any effort to suggestively sell coffee or dessert.
Since Ziosk also offers the option for customer feedback, I've complained about this twice but management has not responded and the servers at this particular Chili's continue to bring tickets regardless of whether or not I have asked for one.
I don't understand why this location has Ziosk tablets if servers are going to continue handing out tickets. At the very least, servers should ask customers if they'd like a ticket or if they'd prefer to pay via the tablet.
I also think that when servers fail to suggestively sell coffee and dessert, they're missing out on the opportunity to make a sale and to increase their earnings from their tips.
What also bothers me is that after they've issued a ticket, the customer is often "out of sight and out of mind" except of course for the server wanting to collect payment via cash or credit card. There don't appear to be any options for ordering coffee or dessert. I can't even seem to get beverage refills once I've been given a ticket.
Since there are many other restaurants to dine at, I've stopped going to this particular Chili's.
Don't get me wrong ... the food is good. The service is reasonably quick. The restaurant is clean.
I just don't think that the local management or the servers understand how to incorporate the use of the Ziosk tablets into their overall customer...
