Best Carnitas in The Valley I remember about 30 years ago going to this cute place in the Valley that had the best carnitas. From that point forward I judged all Mexican restaurants by their carnitas. Some were good, many disappointed, but that was my way of grading and picking. I became a vegetarian for several years and gave up carnitas or all meat. And then I forgot where it had been that I had those amazing carnitas. It was with an ex and I didn't remember where it was and seldom was in Burbank. Until a couple of months ago when I started driving past Barragan's on my way to work. Suddenly it came back to me, that quaint place on Victory Boulevard, close to where we used to go for another activity. It had to be tbe place! So finally yesterday my BF and I went to a movie and dinner after. I picked the worst movie, but opted for Barragan's for dinner. I wondered if the carnitas would still be the same, would that fond memory be disappointed? Nope, not for a minute. The restaurant was still charming inside and out. The service was excellent. The margaritas and guacamole were both good. And the carnitas were on the specials, and special they are. Thankfully I have found my go to Mexican restaurant for date nights and I can't wait to go again. I now have it in my phone so I never lose track again. 🌮🌯🍹🍹🥙🍮

This is one of those places that we have driven by countless times. So even though it was Mother’s Day, we opted to give it a shot. Surprisingly, we were sat immediately. Our waiter was friendly and I appreciated his recommendation for the tongue with Spanish sauce. Now I messed up by stuffing myself with chips and salsa. We started with La Botana (the Mexican sampler: mini taquitos, flautas, sour cream, guacamole, corn and flour quesadillas). I wish the salsa was more spicy. The tongue was moist and flavorful. I thought it was odd to include olives but I truly enjoyed it. My wife went with the three piece flautas combo served with rice and beans. I have to say that my wife and I will be back again.

Had an amazing experience! The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was warm and family-friendly. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was fresh and full of flavor. The location is easy to find, and everything was spotless, from the dining area to the restrooms. A special shoutout to our server, Ivan, who was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!

So driving 25 minutes to eat at my favorite restaurant of my husband's was a mistake on this Saturday night. Apparently if you want agood service you had to be at the outside party I could not believe people were seating themselves the hostess is doing something else there was an excuse we sat at our table 20 minutes no refills on water tea or drinks or asking how our food was or if we needed anything??? Bar drinks watered down and nasty. To which just completely ruin the meal when you have nothing to drink. Get seated in the last room and then the waiter starts to argue with me and tell me that it's okay when people seat themselves that Rose wouldn't care cuz they're busy it's okay I said really it's okay to walk in a restaurant have nobody at the podium not be greeted and walk in and seat yourself so three people we knew said okay so what are we doing sitting ourselves this is weird but then the waiters arguing with me go figure. I said this is only one of the things I want to bring to the attention of Rose I don't think she would like this and he said what's the matter if someone seats themselves, it's bsy! And she's not here anyway until Monday. However, somebody else told me she was afueda. I don't know and I don't care I wasted my time and my $45 should have gone somewhere else. There are five other good places I could have thrown the stone at. Didn't finish our food cuz we didn't have anything to drink as we were choking how does your waiter come to the table next to you seat somebody take their drinks bring their drinks still not turning looking help you and then go to another table in the room and still not come over 22 minutes later geez that's ridiculous! Way to tray "your guests" and if you're not going to be there you have no one in charge know when checking the tables no accountability really strange I guess some people will just accept mediocre his customers even his regulars I'm not willing to I work too hard...

Definitely dooms day for me at Barragan's Burbank!!! I have been a customer for years and during this time, my favorite dish has been the cocido (soup). Recently, I'd noticed that the food was not as fresh. Well, today, was the worst I'd had. The cocido was old, cloudy looking, had a funny smell, the veggies were old and overcooked, the meat did not taste fresh. My GF ordered the same, and noticed the same. She wanted to be courteous and asked for the cocido to be packed to-go vs. returning it (our good intentions).

We mentioned to the server the above and immediately he was extremely defensive stating the cocido was fresh, perhaps a day old only. We'd mentioned the same to one of the busboy who confirmed that yes the cocido can be up to three days old.

While all of rhis is evolving, my girlfriend started to feel sick and ended up vomiting as the food did not sit well with her. While she stepped out to the bathroom, I mentioned to the server that it did not make sense to have to pay for the cocido. He got nasty and said you're okay...there's nothing wrong with the cocido. I asked for the manager and she reacted in the same manner. .NASTY NASTY ATTITUDES. FINALLY, SHE AGREED TO NOT CHARGE FOR THE ONE COCIDO AND SAID YOU CANNOT TAKE IT HOME SINCE YOU'RE NOT PAYING FOR IT !!! Who does that???

The server took my $100 and rushed to charge me for the food..then the incorrect change was given. The manager, once again, had a NASTY NASTY ATTITUDE! ! When I questioned why the change was short.

Where has great customer service disappeared to?

Where is the professionalism?

My girlfriend continued to vomit as we left the restaurant and has a bad stomach ache!!!

SUMMARY: NASTY OLD COCIDO MAKING CUSTOMERS I'LL

NASTY SERVER - NOT PROFESSIONAL NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS

NASTY MANAGEMENT - NOT PROFESSION CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS

CHEATERS - WHY???? NOT GIVE THE CORRECT CHANGE??

Never going back there....extremely...

I'd been here once before and had a great experience. Tonight however, was the opposite. Both my dinner date and I are trying to be healthy/work with dietary restrictions and made minor adjustments to our entree orders. Neither of them arrived correctly, and for mine it was a food intolerance issue as well. Our food initially took so long to come out, we had the greasy chips with salsa, which was too spicy. They brought a plain tomato paste type sauce as an alternative plus a green cause that looked like just a bunch of onion and cilantro dumped on top - it was gross. The food took a very long time to come out, and I am pretty sure my meal, which I sent back, was just plopped onto a new plate and brought out as it was not hot and came out super fast - yet still incorrectly made. I started feeling sick after trying to eat it, and the veggies didn't look fresh. As a gluten-free vegetarian, this was a bad experience, and not worth the $60 price tag. (My dinner date wasn't able to get any of the items he wanted - they were all substitutions that weren't great, and he mentioned the water tastes tap not filtered - chlorine heavy.) Our server was nice but disappeared often and didn't make any adjustments to the bill despite the multiple mistakes with the food order. We were walked past some outdoor restrooms to the parking lot tables without being asked if that was ok for outdoor seating as there was an upper patio. There were water spots on the silverware, and the staff was on their phones or looked miserable. As a former restaurant manager, I was cordial but so very disappointed with this experience. It's becoming increasingly challenging to find quality places to eat out - something I rarely do anymore. Needless to say, we won't be back to...
