I feel my heart breaking writing this. My family has been going to Lancers for over 34 years. My mom used to go to lunch there with HER mother when she was pregnant with me. We went every Sunday morning at 10:30 for breakfast. When I got older (I'm 34 now) my friends and I would come here often because the service was outstanding and it was like being welcomed by a family. I loved the food, the ambiance. It brought back wonderful memories as I created new ones.
But I do believe today was the last straw for me. My best friend and I decided to do lunch as it had been about 6 months since our last visit. He had grown up going there as well. The remodel is okay. If you're a bit round in the waist line the booths are uncomfortable.
I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, he ordered eggs Benedict, and we got mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. It all came out at once (oh well) and as soon as I bit into my burger I knew something was off. The bun was rock hard and stale. He cut into his eggs Benedict and the eggs were 100% soft boiled and not poached. I figured a mozzarella stick sounded good after this not so great start to a meal. First one was okay, and as I reached for another one it was COLD. Not "this was sitting out for 5 minutes" cold, but literally still partially frozen in the middle. Excuse me? How the heck do you mess that up? Half of them ended up being the same way, still partially frozen. We told our unenthusiastic server and she asked if we wanted more. No thanks, we had enough. Literally and figuratively.
I choked my way through the rest of the exceptionally dry burger and stale bun. Fries were okay. Little soggy.
We sat for a long while drinking soda and coffee and talking. I saw quite a few different people seat customers coming here and they all looked annoyed to be there. If you're going to work in customer service, at least fake wanting to be at your job. It wasn't even busy!
It was a miserable experience and despite having spent so much time at Lancers with my friends and family, I don't think I'll...

I received a very nice invitation from a manger or owner of the business. I will not be returning to Lancers because of my last experience with the fish which was terrible in flavor and inarguably, not fresh. I do wish Lancer's owners the best in all their endeavors.
UPDATE
Though under the new owners, the restaurant's future seemed promising. Probably as a result of our horrible economy, prices have increased substantially.
This said, I observed their food portions seemed to have decreased in size. I recently stopped off and ordered the fish dinner. I was brought a cup of clam chowder which was overheated and tasted like milk. The bread which accompanied the soup was extremely dry and flavorless. However, the fish was horrible in taste and permeated by the overwhelming flavor of fish. The fish was either not fresh and frozen for a long while or defrosted improperly. I informed the waitress that the fish was awful and she provided a 30% discount.
After patronizing this restaurant for more than two decades, I will never again return to eat there.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
This place has some good dishes. Their sandwiches are mostly good but their turkey is mediocre. The breakfasts are good but not great. Their dinners are quite good particularly their fish and chicken. Though dinners are accompanied by bread and a dessert most of the waiters and waitresses rarely ever bring these to you unless you...
