I used to have a well-oiled system for shopping at Costco. It was the go-to place for saving money, especially if you were careful with perishables and knew your way around their unbeatable produce and low-priced brands. However, my recent experiences have been disheartening and concerning on multiple fronts.
Let me start with the food quality. Tyson Breaded Chicken Nuggets, which I thought was a reliable choice, turned out to be a health hazard. How could I think it was a reliable choice, given Tyson's history with over 29 recalls? After consuming them, I suffered severe food poisoning that landed me in the emergency room. This incident speaks to broader issues of quality control and safety that Costco should be addressing more seriously. What’s more alarming is the lack of responsiveness when I reported this issue to Costco. My incident report seems to have been lost or disregarded entirely, which is deeply troubling.
Beyond food safety, the overall shopping environment has deteriorated significantly. What was once an organized and efficient store has become chaotic. I’ve had my foot run over by careless shoppers multiple times, and the general atmosphere is stressful, with rudeness and aggression becoming far too common. Combine this with prices that have inexplicably doubled or tripled in some cases, and it’s hard not to feel let down.
I understand economic factors might be at play here, but as a consumer, I expect more from a company like Costco. The variety of products has also taken a hit, often leaving me with only one option for items I used to have a selection of. For example, there’s no longer a vegetarian pizza option; instead of the regular crust, there’s only a cauliflower crust available, which limits choices for those who prefer traditional options.
This trend, coupled with the apparent decline in customer care, makes me question whether Costco still values its customers as much as it once did.
In conclusion, my trust in Costco has been severely shaken. It’s no longer just about finding the best deals; it’s about feeling safe and valued as a customer. I’ve saved the tainted food in case it needs to be examined further, but what’s truly needed is a reassessment of Costco's priorities and a commitment to restoring the trust and satisfaction of their...

Apparently Costco does not store records of their gas sales. So you all should call your banks and charge back your gas purchases right now.
I needed my receipt to get the gas payment compensated for my job. The IRS demands a receipt for that and it is Costco's legal obligation to provide one.
I missed the button to print my receipt. The indicator went away too fast. That's on me. The rest of this is not. Any normal business could reprint it from a register nearby. Not Costco! What shouldn't be a big deal took almost 45 minutes of my time and over 500' of walking around waiting in lines.
So naturally after I missed the option to print it I immediately get out of line, park my car, and go check with the attendant to get him to reprint it (about a 100' walk).
He told me he couldn't reprint it because I pulled away from the pump and I shouldn't have. He genuinely expected me to leave my car at the pump and make everyone in line behind me WAIT for him to search through the records to print a receipt. So he said he couldn't print it! And directed me to walk inside and ask Membership to reprint it. I walk to the store about 300' away.
Well I walk inside and wait in line for 15 minutes for membership. And guess what! They couldn't reprint it either! I have to talk to a Manager at the office.
So I go looking for someone in a red vest and flag one down, explain my situation a third time and she asks for my membership card.
Well sir, it turns out I apparently never paid for gas that day! Same card, same membership, 30 minutes later, but NO RECORD OF THE SALE AT ALL. I can clearly see the charge on my bank statement. My car is full of gas.
So I'm going to call my credit card company and chargeback the payment because apparently it never happened.
What a horrible company with a broken system and no regard...
Read moreI am loyal customer of Costco for decades and buy was over 10k a year. Today I spend another few hundred and one of the item I purchased was a macaroni salad for $4.99 +tax when I got home and opened it, I saw the plastic seal was removed half way and clearly someone had tasted it or eat some from it. When I called to complain and see how we could resolve this because I wasn't about to drive to there again in 90+ degree and spend over an hour driving back and forth and waiting in their long return line and she's telling me thats exactly what I need to do. I asked for storeanager after being on hold for sometime, I was disconnected on, I tried about 5 more times bewhich I really believe because of caller id she didn't want to answer knowing it was me. Now, Costco is great at checking receipts in making sure you paid for items but not for customers safety and security specially during this pandemic of covid-19.
Like I told the manager finally after numerous telephone attempt, I won't waste my time over an hour coming there and probably spend $10 in gas forlouay $5 and would rather spend my time writing and honest review who spends way over 10k a year there for years and make a video for YouTube.
For Costco corporate....train your employees better and have a better plan in place for...
