I say yes! My only gripe was the 12 to 15 minute wait when half the restaurant was empty. Not sure what was going on there for a Saturday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. maybe the entire staff hadn't yet arrived yet?
Anyways, once we were seated, the menu is pretty straightforward. I do like the fact that there are photos of the items. The sushi photos looked great! But I was here on a mission to get ramen.
Apr 2024. $16 Kuro Mayo was delicious. 16 ounces size. It's a big bowl. I was expecting a little more of the sliced pork, or at least a thicker cut of it. But the insanely complex and multi-layer and level broth completely left me speechless.
The flavor is deep! There's so many things going on. First you get a bone broth kind of vibe, and as you continue to eat it, you start noticing the subtleties like a little fermentation, or funkiness, more earthiness, more of that deep umami. It's a pork broth, unlike anything I've tasted in a long time.
Our waiter was great! I do like the fact that even the other waitress and waiter were checking in on us as well. It was a group effort.
If you're in the area, I highly recommend this place for family, larger small groups, tourists, office workers, and especially people who like take out. There are several tables outside across the street that are first come first serve if you decide to get your stuff to go, and eat nearby. The City of Burbank is pretty good about keeping those areas clean and clear. Just make sure to tidy up after yourself.
One thing I don't like about the atmosphere is that it's way too dark inside. I think just boosting the light level by 30% would help a lot.
One thing I would like to see is maybe some sushi bundles, or at least sushi roll bundles. The photos of the sushi look great, but I'm afraid the pricing might be a little too rich for my blood. That's why I'm just sticking with the ramen for now. There's so much Sushi competition up and down the block, so just saying.
Parking: street only. San Fernando has a 90-minute limit per space. Be careful, some spots or 10 minute only. There are two free structures closer to Orange Grove that are Unlimited for about 22 hours. No parking 3am-5am. So if you have to leave your car there overnight, fair warning that you might get...
Read moreMy friends and I visited Copan for a late lunch on a Wednesday, and we had a wonderful experience. The service and atmosphere make this a spot I would happily return to! The Highlights (The Great) Exceptional Service: The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We had two people checking on us—a dedicated server and another filling water—and they were all fantastic. We were seated right away with no wait. Wonderful Ambiance: The restaurant has a beautiful, well-thought-out, Japan-focused decor that creates a great environment for a meal. Menu & Clarity: I loved the menu! It was clearly organized with pictures for every item, which made ordering very easy and eliminated any guesswork. They offer a great range of options, including large sushi selection and both spicy and non-spicy ramen options. The Food We Loved: We tried three different ramens (one spicy, one non-spicy, and the Vegetable Ramen, which was excellent). The Jalapeño Bomb side was also a great flavor addition. Everything was filling, delicious, and satisfying. Areas for Improvement (The Quibbles) Seating Arrangement: My biggest critique is that the tables are positioned a bit too close together. We could clearly hear neighboring conversations, and unfortunately, a couple near us even seemed bothered by our chat and left early. I'd recommend bringing headphones if you prefer more privacy! Dynamite Roll/Side: We were not fans of the Dynamite dish (shrimp, cheese, rice, and onions). It was a strange combination and we ended up not finishing it. Limited Drinks/Desserts: They did not offer non-alcoholic beer, and the dessert selection was very limited (only cheesecake available). (This wasn't a big deal for me, but something to note for others.) Final Thoughts We had a great time, and the quality of the ramen and the wonderful staff made the $80–90 meal well worth it for three people. We plan to return very soon to try their extensive sushi selection! Highly recommend for the great service...
Read moreBeware of overcharge at this place!!!! Ordered for take out based on a menu on the wall next to the entrance door. When ordering, the restaurant worker stands behind a wide table and does not walk out to see the wall menu. We saw a picture of the same dish on a menu on the table in front of them. Pointed at that dish and ordered 2 bowls. Waited for 40 minutes instead of 20-25 as was originally stated. Upon receiving discovered that they brought only one bowl instead of 2. When checking a receipt to see how many bowls are in it, we discovered that they charged us higher price than we originally saw on the wall menu. The lady who took the order began arguing that we ordered only one plate (as if we don't know that there are 2 of us and we ordered 2 plates!) and since we pointed at the picture on the table, she is absolutely right with charging us a higher price. Sorry, but this is a deceiving practice!!! Using a dirty menu printed in tiny font as an excuse not to honor a large well lit menu on the wall is not how respectable businesses work! We did not look at prices on the table menu as we thought they were the same as on the wall menu. That's not taking into account the fact that they ignored us when placing an order while letting a least several dine-in groups inside. Should have walked out at that moment and ordered at a more...
