From start to finish, our experience at Flavor of India in Burbank was absolutely phenomenal. The moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Darshan Singh, whose hospitality and kindness instantly set the tone for an exceptional evening.
Darshan didn’t just treat us like guests — he treated us like family. He personally came to our table, made sure we were comfortable, and even surprised us by offering additional dishes to sample. His generosity, genuine care, and attention to detail were far beyond what you’d expect at a restaurant.
Every dish we tried was rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. From the freshly baked naan to the creamy shai paneer, flavorful goat curry, everything was top-notch. You could truly taste the quality and authenticity in every bite — a perfect balance of spices and tradition.
What made the meal even more memorable was the outstanding service. The entire staff was attentive, polite, and efficient. Our needs were anticipated before we even asked — drinks refilled, plates cleared, and every question answered with a smile. You could feel that the team worked with pride and heart, clearly led by Darshan’s example.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm, inviting, and perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. It’s rare to find a place that delivers this level of food, service, and hospitality all at once.
Darshan Singh is not just running a restaurant — he’s creating a memorable experience for every guest who walks through the door. It’s this kind of passion and personal touch that turns a good meal into something truly special. Darshan, if you’re ever in Bakersfield, don’t hesitate to...
Read moreI love Indian food and have tried several restaurants throughout the so Cal area. I was excited to try Flavor of India. However I was left feeling unsatisfied with the entire experience.
After waiting for a table on a busy Friday night, I was finally seated only to wait another additional 20 minutes before anybody came to take my order. I ordered samosas, chicken Tikka, lamb vindaloo, Naan, and rice. The samosas were not that great. It was rather dull in taste and complexity compared to the fragrance of spices I'm accustomed to in Samosas. After waiting for another 20 mins, the food starting to come one by one. First was the chicken Tikka. Again. Disappointing from the chicken Tikka I have had other places. Not to say it was bad, but it lacked the unique char and smoked taste that is the signature taste of anything made in the clay oven. It just tasted like regular ol chicken fajitas. Next the lamb vindaloo. Again the trend continues. Something lacking in the overall flavor profile compared to other versions I've tried. The saag alo was good, however the potatoes were UNDERCOOKED and just ruined the dish for me. The rice that I ordered never came. Which was just disappointing. Nobody ever came to check on me for well over 30 mins. By the time I could get somebody, to tell them about the rice. The kitchen was already closed. It was just a disappointing experience for me overall and won't be back. The food is by no means bad, it's just not that great either. I think there are much better places to get your...
Read moreWe tried Flavours of India when we were in LA. Arq was our server and he was amazing. Starting with the recommendations to ensuring our food was as per expectations and going above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely experience. We started with the aaloo tikki and samosas. Both were flavourful and samosas felt like home cooked because of their filling(which I personally liked). I also ordered a mango margarita which was yumm, not at all watered down and perfect balance. We also got the happy hour deals on both starters and drinks which were a bang on for price. For our main course we ended up ordering the thalis, and again the quantity is just perfect for 1 person. The daal was plain and lacked salt but they rectified it immediately and again the plain daal for me was a good change as I loved it. Shahi paneer and malai kofta for me were the star dishes of the evening(included in the thali). The koftas were soft and included the essence from the curry and both had perfect balance of spices. Paneer was soft, paneer pieces were sufficient and we loved it. My husband ordered Paneer vindaloo, it was too salty and we ended up replacing it. Arq was quite helpful and replaced it quickly with more koftas as we loved it. We didn't have room for dessert, but Arq did offer us some gulabjamun on the house, which we had to politely refuse because we were so full from the appetisers and main course. Thank you to Arq for the lovely...
