Just a Touch pricey for what you're getting on your plate, but for being a chain barbecue place, this sauce is boss.
I think it's no secret, or maybe it is, that their barbecue sauce is a good mix of Sweet Baby Ray's (less kick & heat) and Kettleman's.
I came in here on a busy Friday night. The vibe felt great, packed restaurant with mostly families and their kids.
The bar area was mostly single guys in their 50s to '60s. No single ladies here, unfortunately, if you were expecting a singles bar. Lol. No no, by comparison, the ladies that were in here were paired up on dates.
To change the subject, their bread was really good! It's got that fresh baked quality, with a nice garlic and parsley oil smothered all around.
For dinner, I ordered the brisket and tri-tip. The brisket is fall off the bone tender, very melt in your mouth delectable... almost too soft. The tri-tip was also very tender.
Both were drowned in barbecue sauce, so I never really got a taste of what the meat was like with just spices and herbs on it.
Please specify that when ordering, if you want sauce on the side. Otherwise you'll have the same experience I did, and never get a true sense of what the meat itself tasted like.
I want to give this place five stars. I really do. But I feel like the $33 or so that I spent for a two item combo is just ridiculous when you look at the portion size. To the management here, either lower the price, or just give me more MEAT. I mean each piece of tri-tip and brisket was barely half to three quarters the size of like a small grocery russet potato. Seriously?
The skin on fries were good, just on the brink of being soggy though. They were crisp, but something to do with maybe not being cooked at a high enough temperature to make them not bogged down with oil inside?
I did get a lot of peanut coleslaw though. They definitely packed that sucker in there really good into a leaf of red cabbage. No skimping on the cabbage.
But when you look at the big picture, I came in here for the barbecue, MEAT, not for the foliage.
Parking is fairly easy in the structure on the other side of the street, depending on what time of day you park, specific day of the week, Etc
Oh, one other note about the bar I feel needs to be said. This is a straight up American Standard bar. Coors, Budweiser, you get the idea. Their liquor and liqueur section is kind of skimpy.
Lots of wine varieties though. A $#!t ton of wine selection.
What I'm trying to get at is even though this is a chain barbecue restaurant, it would be nice if they spruced up the bar a bit with some variety. You know maybe take a leap, and carry some of the Italian Aperitivo so you can make a black manhattan, or a paper airplane.
Hopefully upper level management takes notice across the entire chain, and makes some changes to the bar & prices (or at least portion sizes) accordingly.
For the price to quantity of food value, and the lack of variety at the bar, come on five stars! I'm rooting for you.
I'll make an unannounced visit sometime during the summer. Let's see if...
Read moreWood Ranch has long been a staple for my BBQ craving, but my recent visit exceeded all expectations, thanks to not only the mouthwatering food but also the extraordinary level of customer service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by David, the host, whose warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for the entire evening. David went above and beyond to ensure that our party felt comfortable, accommodated, and ready to enjoy what would be a fantastic meal.
The food at Wood Ranch is nothing short of spectacular. If you’re a fan of BBQ, you simply cannot miss their brisket. It's cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and with just the right amount of smokiness. Every bite was a delight, melting in your mouth and leaving you craving more. Paired with their creamy, rich macaroni and cheese, it’s a combination that is pure comfort food heaven. The macaroni and cheese, with its perfectly cooked pasta and velvety cheese sauce, could easily stand on its own as a star dish, but when paired with the brisket, it’s a match made in culinary paradise.
The excellence didn’t stop with the food. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the menu, offering great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. The entire staff worked seamlessly to ensure that our drinks were always topped off, our needs were promptly met, and that we felt like valued guests from start to finish.
In a world where customer service can often feel impersonal, Wood Ranch, with David leading the charge, demonstrates that it is possible to provide a truly exceptional dining experience. The combination of fantastic food and top-tier service makes Wood Ranch a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable meal. I can’t wait to return and indulge in their delicious offerings again. Highly recommended!
Furthermore! This is not a chain! I met the bosses of Wood Ranch and wow! I am so glad they are so involved with customer satisfaction. Unbelievable and...
Read more2022.05-08/1200: So we decided to try something new today since it was Mother's Day! I saw that they had salmon on the menu and we looked online before we headed out and they have a huge variety of items to choose from.
I started out with a Newport Lemonade which was delicious. It was Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint Vodka muttled with fresh mint, thinly sliced cucumbers, simple syrup and fresh squeezed lemon juice. So refreshing!
We started out with Buffalo Wings and they bring you complimentary Garlic Rolls, too. The wings were great. They were jumbo size and they brought them out with celery, carrots, Ranch and Bleu Cheese dressings so that was excellent. It's a hefty amount so I don't think we'll end up doing that again! We couldn't finish our entrees because we ate the wings! The Garlic Rolls were a little too hard to bite through but soft on the inside making them a bit hard to chew. They were tasty, though. The garlic butter on them tasted great.
For our entrees, we got the Buckeye Burger with fries and Pan-Seared Salmon with their Smashed Sweet Potatoes. The burger was beautiful in presentation and super juicy!! The Brioche bun was shiny and toasted. While buying into the burger, you can see the juices dripping out of it. I got the Pan-Seared Salmon with butter, salt and pepper. It was soft and succulent. The Smashed Sweet Potatoes were perfect. I did; however, find a French Fry at the bottom of it but it was still good.
For dessert, we brought home the WR Butter Cake. OMG. That was heaven. Every bite was warm and delightfully sweet. I could literally have the Butter Cake without the Raspberry and Caramel sauce and ice cream and I would still be in heaven. EXCELLENT.
This was good for a surprise meal. We will definitely be back to try other items!
