I've always liked this place. They have been here in Burien now for at least 5 years, they used to have a location downtown Seattle, which I now believe they closed due the problems there. But glad they are kind of a fixture now in the heart of Burien, right across from the Burien library, and town square. They now have (little) savory and sweet fruit pies for a 💸dollar each. I stopped in today while running errands, I ordered the little spinach feta and egg, and the ham/egg/cheese. Which hit the spot. Then bottle of juice. Great little late breakfast or early lunch. They serve a variety of larger pies as well. You can also order ones that are frozen a dozen/take home to bake yourself. 🍮 😆 🐨 Just went in again the other day, on Thur when they reduce there meat pies to $4 dollars. Ordered the Bacon Potato Cheese Pie, what a disappointment that was, the potatoes inside the pie was consistency of very thin watery instant mash potatoes. Almost if making for a baby or old person with no teeth to eat. Literally dripping out each time I took a bite, and if there was bacon, there were only three small specks of meat. I also wanted a glass of water, in which they directed me to a plastic water dispenser near front door, the cup available were just small tiny Dixie cups. Just enough room for H2O as if taking a pill! I asked if I could have a 6oz plastic cup they had behind there counter. Told there would be a 50 cent charge! I could understand a charge of not buying anything, but I got a nasty $4.40 pie, I would not have even feed my dog. It seems as of late they have made cuts with quality of food and service, that is reason I have changed rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. Let you be the judge next time in your visit.

Dec 2024 We have been to this place multiple times now and have tried out most of their pastries and pies. Our absolute favorite is definitely the Lamington cake, we highly recommend it. We have only ordered online, so not much about the service. The staff we've talked to were all friendly and quick in retrieving our orders. Only complaint is they once switched an item in our order for something else and didn't tell us. We discovered it once we got back home (1 hour away). So we check the orders before driving away now. The store itself is small and cozy with limited seating. There is a low bar by the window, a few 2 person tables, and a high table in the middle. By the door is a small station with free water, utensils, and napkins. There is also a freezer with frozen, individually sealed take and bake pies. They are marked with abbreviations, with a key on the outside of the freezer. They also cut patterns on the top of the pies to help differentiate them. The key for that is on the paper envelopes they put pastries into. There is also a picture on their website, on the reheat instructions page. Of the pies we have tried, we definitely prefer the chicken based ones. All the beef ones, even the non-ground beef ones, are too salty for our tastes. The chicken ones are delicious. We particularly recommend the plain chicken and the bbq chicken. The pastries are all yummy, but not really noteworthy. The puff pastries themselves are soft, light, and flaky. The jam fillings they use are very flavorful and delicious. They also use real, hand-whipped cream. They were all yummy, but we would only really buy the Lamington again (which we did, 3 times). They are soft, moist, and very coconuty.

The key to this place is taking it as what it is, a fun, and delicious quick lunch establishment. I was recently introduced to it, and came back a few days later, the food was memorable and good, the only note I have is that a meat pie fits into a weird serving size. If you have small meals 1 will be great, I think most people will want 2 though, and the first time I went the guys I went with got 3 pies a piece. The bulk of the menu is set, but it seems like there are items they try or rotate around such as the Mac'n'Kelbasa pie that I had. The Lamingtons are amazing, and something I was not familiar with until the first time. It's something like a yellow cake, covered in chocolate, then that is rolled in coconut. A bit messy to eat, but delicious.

Been here previously and no problem with getting questions answered on the pies . Today I was purchasing some frozen pies- some to be given away and shared as gifts. I asked the guy at counter some questions. One was, "how do you cook the pies"? He gave a look like "are you serious"? (Obviously they are baked, but I wanted to know what temperature and for how long). So I next asked "how long do you bake them"? him:20min. Because it was like pulling teeth to get the simple information, I had to ask,"do you have instructions I can look at"? (these were going to be gifts). Him looking annoyed responds: it's on the receipt. (I Have to pay yet). I should have left the business, but these were going to be gifts so I paid and left. Guess what? He didnt give me the reciept. I had to go back(he was gone) asked a gal to print my receipt. I saw some other reviews on service and a few mentioning a guy up front too; likely this guy. Why is he up front if doesn't like answering questions and annoyed by customers that stop in. Definitely not going out of my way to stop here again. Food can be the best but bad service can prevent another visit AND a recommendation. Really a zero star for the annoyed...
