An OK place with high end prices. Place is very busy. There's ample street parking and there's also a parking lot in the back lot. Their signature dish is a $40.00 crab special that everyone seems to order (except us). Wait staff are friendly and make sure you're taken care of.

The place has about five sushi chefs and they bang the orders out quicker than McDonald's with presentation being a bit sloppy. Portion control was not good as some of the sushi (Uni Nigiri) came in different sizes. Another interesting move is their amaebi, their shrimp head is partially peeled off, and when it arrives it looks like a skeleton shrimp head. Sushi quality is decent, but if I were to compare the quality this place would come in a distant third behind Tomodachi in Hayward.

Prices here are on par with other higher end sushi. Their vegetable tempura portions are generous considering you pay...

I have to be that person - posting a review because it's bad. I decided to try as I've passed by for years. Service is great! Chicken teriyaki was tough texture wise, chewy but my mom and I ate half. we sent back the beef teriyaki ordered medium because it was tough and I thought it would be edible if it was medium well but still super tough and chewy. We ate less than 1/4 to see if it was any better after asking to cook to medium well. After cooking a bit more - still too tough and chewy to eat. Tempura included hard, heavy vegetables. One salmon sushi roll was fine and the salads were fresh. The gal who ran my payment didn't remove any of the cost as she didn't see the plate with the inedible beef teriyaki and half eaten chicken that was cleared by the busser. Definitely not...

I'd been a patron of Tomokazu since it first opened decades ago. It was my go to bento box lunch place up to 3/4 times a week. I still go there for Bento Box lunch a couple times a month, love the sashimi and hamachi shioyaki combo. Very fresh sashimi, and hamachi is grilled with yummy crispy skin, comes with miso soup with tofu and seaweed, crispy lettuce salad, pickled veggie, bowl of sushi rice and couple of slices of orange. Makes me feel healthy!

Went there for a very good dinner recently, the waitress recommended Hokkaido uni, scallops and lobster sashimi, too bad their lobster was over 4 lbs, didn't get that, but got the others with my favorites sweet shrimp and mirugai (geoduck clam sashimi. They were so good! She also recommended a sake to pair...

This restaurant has a nice homey atmosphere. They have tatami style seating which was really cute (but we didn’t get to sit there). The service is really slow but it was also really busy. The waiters were all really nice. The sashimi quality was really good, particularly their tuna cuts. They also had a lot of offerings that were sets, which I think seemed really worth it. There is a wide variety on the menu, but I highly recommend getting the Chirashi and any of their sashimi, particularly the tuna. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes, maybe something non sushi next time :)

This place is not for me, but I don’t want to write a negative review because the staff were soooo nice. I tried the beef udon, the portion is huge but the quality of ingredient is just very mediocre. This place is affordable for a reason. The soup is just soy sauce flavored, and the beef is just so hard to chew. They use cabbage as the veggie which is another affordable ingredient that will fill you up. Even tho the staff were so nice, the food is just hard to swallow…. Overall, I would recommend cutting the portion in half and use better ingredients.

I had dinner at Tomokazu and it was so good. The sashimi was super fresh and cut nice and thick, especially the salmon and tuna. We tried a few different rolls and the mango roll was my favorite. The lamb chops were tender and not gamey at all, the wings were tasty, and the chawanmushi was hands down the best part. Everything was delicious and I would definitely come back again. The food was so good that I completely forgot to take photos, so the only picture I have is of the sashimi lol
