The food was good. It's pretty loud inside the restaurant. FRONT DESK LADY IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.
Booked this place to celebrate our kid's birthday. Called them a week in advance to book and asked if the place allowed dogs and asked for outdoor seating. The lady on the phone was in a hurry to take my questions. She said yes we allow dogs and we can take care of that and hangs up. Since we are celebrating our kid's birthday I didn't want to take chances, I called again two days later to confirm whether they allowed dogs. The guy on the phone said yes. Great!
We got to the restaurant with our party on the day we had booked. The front desk lady takes us inside where they had the table set up (instead of outside as we had requested), we ask for a high chair, she ignores the request and starts questioning about the dog, asking whether it's a service animal, and that she needs to see the proof. We confirmed that it is indeed a service animal. While we dig up the proof, I made it clear that I called your restaurant to confirm twice that you are dog friendly, and we would prefer patio seating. She then starts arguing about the dog and keeps iterating that only service animals are allowed. And allowed no service. I had to let her know that we have to come to celebrate a special day. And would like some service going instead of enquiring about the dog. Luckily the other sever intervened and started with service. We showed them the proof, and he was happy with it.
Too much effort, negotiation and stress to celebrate a birthday...
Read moreI usually enjoy coming to this place with my friends, even though the food is a bit pricey and not always the best. We love the atmosphere, their fresh bread and meze platter, and we often leave happy. However, my last visit was disappointing due to the service.
One of the waiters, Mehmed, was unexpectedly rude and dismissive. While I was trying to ask a question, he ignored me mid-sentence and walked away. Another waiter actually witnessed this—our eyes met right as it happened and he even called after Mehmed, but he didn’t respond.
Later, while serving our food, I was reading something on my phone and had some personal items on the table in front of me. I didn’t notice he was trying to serve me, and my friend tried to help by putting the plate. Mehmed snatched the plate from her hand without a word and told me to move my things in a very passive-aggressive tone.
Throughout the evening, his attitude made us feel uncomfortable. Because of this behavior, we didn’t feel like leaving a tip. But when my friend, who was paying, was about to complete the payment, Mehmed stood next to her and watched her closely—clearly waiting to see if we would tip. It felt very awkward and inappropriate, as if he knew we weren’t happy and wanted to pressure us into tipping anyway.
This place has always felt like a quality restaurant to me, but that experience really soured the night. If we come again, we’ll definitely make sure that he’s not the one...
Read moreDelicious food! I had the octopus, moussaka and side of brussel sprouts. The serving sizes were ample, I had to take some moussaka home. The sprouts were extremely crispy, not sure if they were deep fried or roasted but they were yummy! Moussaka was great, lots of tender eggplant. Octopus was very tender and tasty, also good portion size.
Only drawbacks: 1) inside it's very noisy, if you didn't want to shout to your tablemates, you should opt for outdoor or patio seating. 2) only two toilets for guests, in the form of all gender sing use room. There was always a wait, since the restaurant can seat more than 50 ppl at any time.
Updated after a couple more visits: Last night was my third time dining at Mykanos, each time has been a delight.
food: we've had the pasticcio, moussaka, branzino, flatbread, roasted cauliflower, zucchini balls, octopus and more. Each was delicious. The pita is not impressive but it's free. I think my favorite so far are the pasticcio and moussaka, as well as zucchini balls - they are so light and fluffy!
service- polite and prompt
ambiance: I much prefer the inside as it's a bit chilly and basic outside. However the noise level inside is a bit to high for me, outside you can at least hear your table mates
prices are not cheap. Prepare to put down some cash, but I think it's...
