I never had an issue with this coffee shop as I have been coming here for years. This morning 8/13 at 815am I asked for 2 hot latte Horchatta large. 1st try- I was given a cold regular size latte. I told the barista that I have purchased a large hot. She said ok. 2nd try- I was given a hot latte size regular. I told the barista I purchased a size large. The barista proceeded to tell me “the large only has more shots of expreso” . I told her but I payed for a large can that be arranged or no.She only said “ok”.
The coffee I was given by the barista (young lady) was so bitter and just plain bad, I feel as the barista was just upset and added whatever she wanted to make it taste as bitter as possible so I won’t come back again. I can only make assumptions due to the bitterness of the coffee and poor customer service. Maybe she was upset because she got the order wrong twice or thought I was trying to be difficult.
I did not drink the latte since it was so bitter. I sat there to have a chat with my mother as I plan to do this morning. While we did enjoyed the cheese danish we did not drink the coffee, it was very bitter. As I left the coffee shop I couldn’t help myself and I asked the other barista who took the order. The Horchatta latte only comes in one size? She proceeds to tell me “I was told Horchatta flavor can only be done cold” What!? I said- then why you did not clarify when I purchase it. Barista- “oh, sorry about that” I told her please be more considerate of the customer as we only see the menu and the menu does not specify summer flavors only hot or cold etc… customer do not know what baristas know! there is a reason why people work there, not only to prepare the order but to attend the customer and to make the necessary corrections as in this case - horchata latte can only be done cold. I would have been perfectly fine with it and make a choice to order something different therefore avoiding a bitter taste in my mouth and a bad experience not only for me but for my mother too. I would appreciate a little bit more patience and better communication. Assist the customer, don not blame the customer for not knowing what is not in the menu. I payed $24 plus a tip, but knowing that I would receive poor service I regret leaving a tip. I don not think I can come here again due to the lack of patience and poor customer service. Be kind and be clear! Communicate better, please. If I take the time and money to buy a cup coffee is to enjoy it not to have a bitter taste in my mouth....
Read moreMy first time here was a unique convergence. A friendly welcome. The permeating smell of burnt, cheap wheat bread, sold as toast for $9, and an iced latte that tasted like salt and unmixed caramel. I tried to ponder the unique experience, but needed to leave the premise to give an honest review. I have a feeling that their hot drinks are good. Their espresso had hope, but was buried between ice, salt, and caramel glue. My advice would be to start with something cheap. Go in with low expectations and a smile. Maybe they'll change their name to consistently high standards and their products will...
