The price and atmosphere is slowly outrunning the taste. At one point my family frequently spent over 100+ A week on taaza but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon and here's why.
The reasons I feel like this is because the prices are starting to rub elbows with "higher end" fine dining experiences that offer more quantity, better atmosphere and similar pricing. The decor and atmosphere tries too hard and somehow not enough with remnants of precovid sticking out like a sore thumb In the form of a Buffet bar that's never been reopened solidering on as a table that's used for storage it's so out of place ! Things that used to be complimentary (the crisps) are now by order only? Really weird decision to make as it probably cost them almost nothing to serve yet it was one of my favorite things so it came me coming back to this location (the taaza in Greensboro is better). As far as location goes it's at somewhat at a disadvantage being located in a strip mall which isn't as big as a knock on them if they figured out how to make it feel as though it's not but there isn't any effort on that part so the combination of higher pricing plus lower quality atmosphere is really weird? Something their sister location in gso does a great job of avoiding!
I don't know I just feel as though the restaurant should be a takeout place in order to simplify and decrease prices because when I got my ticket all I could think about was the wrong decision I made eating there versus a place like saltnpepper or print works bistro considering the fact that if you dine in you should expect to pay about 30- 40 a person or so not including tip so a few dollars more could get you a dining experience that's a worlds away from what's given at this establishment. Just my two cents, if you eat here save yourself the tip and just do takeout and even then prepare to be a little frustrated as you probably just spent about 60-70 dollars on just two people...
Read moreMy fourth and last try of Taaz Bistro unfortunately. I’m very disappointed in the food here especially with all of the raving reviews. Maybe I would have a better experience eating in than with take out. Let me preface with— I LOVE Indian food! I eat it once a week at least. This is the only place in town and I’m new to the area. My first 3 tries, the mild spice is too spicy but I deal with it. This last try tonight, I called and shared the mild spice is too spicy for me and requested it to be less spicy please. Yes this last try is less spicy FINALLY but there were so many herbs used it was almost inedible. I pulled all the herb leaves out and counted at least 20 herb leaves in my small take out container of food and there were whole peppercorns. I couldn’t take a bite without eating one of them. I finally picked out all of the leaves and blended the food up in my blender to smooth out the consistency to eat with my now cold and hard naan. I’m so disappointed since it’s the only Indian place in town. Not to mention the price of the food for the amount you get is a bit expensive. One take out container is one serving. Other places I’ve been you can split the meal between 2 people or have leftovers for the same price. I guess I’ll be making a drive to Greensboro to get my favorite Indian place for less spice, more food, but same price. flavorful food does not have to be spicy to be tasty and gosh, Mild spice are for those unable to tolerate a burning pit of fire in their mouths as well. Thanks...
Read moreI don't even know where to start from the fabulous and kindest waiter (Vicky) to the chef (Pandey), and staff who serve you. Everyone is great at Taaza. From my own experience after trying countless Indian restaurants from all over North America (Canada and the United States) Taaza is hands down is the best quality Indian food you will experience. The food that I tried here brought me back the authentic taste of India when I was living there. I can't begin to express my gratitude, the chef is a magician and cooks with a passion and pure love. Every bite I took was reminiscent of India. From the Chana Masala, Palak paneer, butter chicken, Gulaab Jamans, Ice cream, and spicy garlic naan were all freshest of fresh!
This was my second time coming here, and a lot of problems I've encountered in other Indian restaurants is that they lack consistency, however, at Taaza bistro, this is not the issue. The food is always super good, and the staff always super kind and helpful, including Vicky! I want people to know this is the greatest Indian restaurant, and it has to be experienced by everyone!
All I ask on my end is for everyone to be patient, Indian food is not easy to make, and it takes a very special chef to be able to make it meticulously and delicious. Taaza has shown this, and Pandey is beyond any expert, he is the greatest of great chefs. Thank you for this wonderful experience and bringing a geniune and true taste of India to Burlington...
