My husband and I visited here Friday. Service-The staff were super friendly, they made sure our drinks stayed topped off, and were constantly checking on us. Atmosphere- Its a smaller dinning place, but overall decent. I will say our table was super close to the table beside of us, so we slid the table away as far as we could but we were still close enough we felt like we were having dinner with the folks. Food- I'll start off by saying we have been to many different all you can eat sushi/hibachi places, and have tried sushi/hibachi from so many different restaurants... The spring rolls, and dumpling were cold when we got them. With it being fried, you really want it to be hot or at least warm. If they had brought them out fresh we would have really liked them. The hibachi steak strips tasted okay. The sauce on them was great, but the steak quality was dry, and tough. We werent expecting prime cuts of steak, but they were sad. Sushi... I feel the sushi has the potential to be good. Maybe they were having some off plates. We ordered 4 different rolls. All of the rolls including the 2 deep fried rolls were soggy and damp on the bottom like they had got wet and not from a sauce. Texturly they were all mushy. The sushi rice was way overcooked... We had pieces with salmon, tuna, and crab. All of the pieces with tuna and salmon werent supposed to have cooked fish, 2 of the rolls were supposed to be raw, and they werent. The avocado in the 2 rolls that were supposed to be raw was even dark like it had been cooked or warmed over as well. Tasting all 4 rolls they had the same flavor minus the different sauces that they were topped with. We ordered 4 very different rolls and they all had a strong overwhelming cooked tuna, cream cheese flavor. One roll was supposed to have jalapeno, and it didnt have the jalapeno. The spicy tuna was not spicy, and the tuna honestly tasted like it came out of a can. When we received our sushi, my husband asked about the soup he ordered, and the waitress apologized and said they were having some issues with their system. She brought him the soup quickly after he mentioned it. He didnt end up eating the soup. The clear soup was greasy and had a ring of oil around the outer edge of the bowl. Visually, the smell, and the taste was not good at all. I feel clear soup is an easy staple at hibachi/sushi places, and is a similar basic consistently good soup at every restaurant, and this soup was not that. Overall we werent impressed with our food. I think we will try again in a month just to see if they were having an off night with the food. We really wanted this place to be great so we would have a local all you can eat sushi spot, but we were disappointed. BUT the service was amazing and is what will bring us back to give it another try at...
Read moreI have been really excited for the opening of this restaurant as I'm a big sushi fan. However, this was the most disgusted with food I have ever been at a restaurant, and that is saying so much. I went in knowing that in the first month of opening, no restaurant is great, so I tried to not be so harsh. My boyfriend and I got the all you can eat sushi, and the only thing I liked was the edamame.
I ordered a ginger salad, which is one of my favorite things to order at any restaurant that has it. The ginger dressing wasn't great, but taste of the dressing was probably offset by the brown and soggy lettuce I was given. As for the sushi roll, I ordered a Philadelphia roll, again, one of my favorites no matter where I go. The first thing I noticed was a dog hair tangled up in the rice. (I don't own an animal so I know it wasn't from me). The rice on the sushi was more like a paste, someone went a little too crazy on the rice vinegar and it ruined the roll for me. I tried to get down as much as I could so I didn't get the upcharge for leaving rolls behind, but I still ended up leaving a few. My boyfriend got the volcano roll and it was probably the worst sushi roll I've ever had, which is saying a lot. All you could taste was cream cheese and vinegar from the rice, our server actually suggested that we cover it up with napkins so we didn't get charged. The shrimp tempura was tough and my boyfriend had more seaweed than broth in his miso soup. (Guessing it was from the bottom of the pot.)
It sucked knowing that we paid 28.99 each just to lose our appetites. I grew up in the restaurant business, I know things are difficult when you first open, but there wasn't a single dish that I could describe as tasty. I ran into a coworker at the restaurant as we were leaving and they also told me about how awful their experience was. They got a California roll, one of the most basic sushi rolls, and couldn't manage to get it down and had to pay the extra for the rolls left behind. I don't know if we all just caught this place at a bad time (we got there at 7:30 on a Thursday, typical dinner time) or something, but I don't know how these reviews are so positive. Very misleading, please don't waste money here like we did, you'll be unsatisfied, hungry, and kicking yourself for not being able to avoid the upcharge for being given something that isn't edible. You're better off going somewhere like Simply Thai...
Read moreMy family and I went to try out the newest “talk of the town” and I gotta say it did not disappoint! Today was their 3rd day of operation and things seemed to be going smoothly. We went around 5:30, and we were seated upon arrival. The place was already packed and we’re lucky to be seated right away, cause the place had a wait right after.
I ordered 16 pcs of Nigiri, the Sweet Dragon Roll, 2 rounds of crab salad, seaweed salad, squid salad and a miso soup to share with my 8 month old. (Which they were kind enough to keep refilling the tofu cause my 8 month old was going to town). Husband got the Tuna Lover roll, Burlington Roll, Egg rolls, and the Yellowtail Jalapeño. (Call us fatties). Everything was excellent. Food tasted fresh and the Sushi Rolls selection was pretty diverse. I’m a sashimi/nigiri girl, but thoroughly enjoyed the Burlington Roll! Might actually be our favorite. The husband agrees. The salads and appetizers came out really quick and our wait for the sushi was around 20-30 mins, which we were expecting since they looked busy and they just opened.
The service was good. Our server was actually very sweet and attentive, though she might have forgotten to send our yellowtail jalapeño order since that one came late and ended up on our bill, but the issue was resolved quickly by both our server and their Manager Ody. They were having a slight issue with their pos as we were leaving but also was quickly resolved, we barely had to wait.
Our overall experience was excellent! I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to eat Sushi like me and can eat a lot of them. Haha! The price point is good in my opinion, even for Burlington. My family and I are sushi eaters and would usually spend more money for less than what we got today at other places. So that means we will be going to Sushi World from now on to get our Sushi Fix! (You can get Hibachi and other apps for AYCE too, which is a big BONUS for me!) Especially now that we can get ALL YOU CAN EAT locally instead of driving 30-40 minutes to have the same experience.
Next on my list to try is their Ramen from their A La Carte Menu and the Filet Mignon Hibachi 🤤. This is your sign to get your sushi fix at Sushi World! Do it! Might have to wait a little for your food but...
