TLDR: uncomfortable vibes from employees

I came in with someone yesterday and we both noticed that the employees (and maybe some friends/customers/non-employees) at the front were having very homophobic and misogynistic conversations VERY loudly. They even dropped the f slur at some point (even if it was one of the friends/customers they were talking to it’s still super in appropriate) when talking about their own clothing styles and were bashing their old girlfriends. Other clients also seemed put off as we were all looking at each other to acknowledge how odd of a situation it was. Absolutely wonderful place! I love coming to BSJ! The staff is so kind and considerate to not just myself but my children. Everytime I come in I have four of my kiddos. They are always welcomed, warmly into the shop. They are always willing to help my kids find that perfect something. I love that there is a free bin located outside of the store. It’s an amazing asset to the community. This is a very unique and admirable store. They care about their customers and each other, which you can clearly see when you come in. Absolutely love this place. Battery Street Jeans Exchange is hands down one of the best spots for finding cool, unique pieces without breaking the bank. The vibe is super chill, and the staff are always friendly and happy to help without hovering. Tons of vintage and secondhand gems, denim, flannels, boots, you name it. Everything’s well-organized and actually fun to browse through (rare for a thrift spot). Walked in looking for jeans, walked out with a full outfit and zero regrets. Definitely a go-to if you’re into sustainable fashion or just want to upgrade your wardrobe with something that doesn’t look straight off the rack. Five stars...
