It's been a long while since we've visited this place and my companion and I ventured in on a Tuesday night hoping for a quiet time. Well, they had a fundraiser going and it was doing great so the dining room was rather packed and while being seated there I request out front, being the better option - no problem. We kept it simple and ordered entrees - Salmon and veggies for my companion and Lasagna for me. Thinking that the salmon MUST be farmed, since it wasn't listed as wild caught, and knowing there are several options and various qualities when it comes to farmed product, I asked our server about the salmon - where it is farmed. She didn't know but told us that she has the owner order extra for her and her family because her dad, who's picky about his salmon, loves it. She was great! As busy as the place was, I didn't want to inquire further and we went with it. Glad we did. The salmon was excellent, generous serving, moist with a very fresh, clean flavor and perfectly cooked. The veggies were steamed with a simple light seasoning, so satisfying. My lasagna was really very good, but different from most, yet in a good way that I'm not sure everyone would appreciate. First - it is HUGE! And that's all you'll get is this BIG ramekin. It is layer upon layer of pasta and cheeses, 3 inch thick and doughy - the perfect comfort food. A hearty meat-laden sauce smothers the whole thing and adds ample tomato acidity and savory meatiness for the entire meal. Somehow, I ate the whole thing, probably shouldn't have. Definitely shouldn't have... It would be nice if this was a smaller portion, like half, served with salad and minestrone, but the option is just to add soup & salad to the already huge serving. The thing is, it gets a bit monotonous eating that much lasagna, even thought it's sooo good you don't want to stop. And all the pasta options are the same. Will I order this again? You bet, but I'll likely share it or take half home... or just indulge in gluttony - again.

Brick House & Catering is truly a gem in Elk Grove. My girlfriend and I finally came in after hearing so many great things, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, Tawny welcomed us with warmth and made us feel right at home. We started with the Caesar salad and fresh bread — both perfectly prepared — followed by spaghetti with meat sauce and prime rib that were absolutely incredible. The flavors were rich, the portions generous, and everything tasted like it was made with care. We ended with tiramisu, and it was the perfect sweet finish to an unforgettable meal. Beyond the amazing food, what really stood out was the hospitality. Chris and Tawny genuinely care about their guests, and it shows in every detail. It’s rare to find a place that combines such heart with such quality, and Brick House does it flawlessly. This was one of the best meals of our lives, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for not just great food, but a truly special dining experience.

Saturday, 11/11/2023 - Our 1st time at Brick House Restaurant. Address is 9027 Elk Grove Blvd Ste 100, Elk Grove, CA 95624. Took my honey to celebrate his birthday here. Heard they had prime rib. They do not do reservations here. It's 1st come 1st serve.

They do have a few charges that is listed on the bottom of the menu. Charges are:

$6.00 split plate or shared orders $2.50 charge per person cake cutting fee $18 corkage fee for 750ml wine bottle

Upon arrival...

Pros:

  1. they have their own little parking lot next to the restaurant.
  2. hostesses were very nice. They took my number down and name down. They text you when your table is ready.
  3. restaurant is clean. Plates, cups, utensils, tables, and chairs all clean.
  4. water tasted good. No funky or metal taste.
  5. we ordered the prime rib with 1 potato and veggies. When it arrived, they cut our prime rib into two thinner slices and put it on 2 plates with 2 baked potatoes and veggies on each plate. Now it looked like steak vs a nice, chunky, medium rare prime rib, which was why we came here to begin with. We were both so disappointed 😞. So my honey talked to our server, JJ. He explained it's their policy to split the plate if anyone is sharing. JJ was very nice, talkative, and professional. Love that he smiled a lot while serving. He got his manager, Chris, to talk to us. Chris is awesome!! Best manager ever!!!! I told him it's my honey's bday and I took him there because I heard they have good prime rib. But they made our prime rib look like steak now that it has been halved. We pointed to a guy across from us showing his thick and chunky, medium rare prime rib and said that was how we were expecting it. Chris deserves a raise!!! He went to the back and got us exactly what we wanted, cooked medium rare. Oh my!! It was so perfect! He took the two thin slabs of prime rib back. He removed the $6.00 split plate charge. Thus, that is why you see in my photos a thinner sliced prime rib plate (which we didn't eat) and the nice, chunky prime rib photo (which we devoured). 😆 Made my honey's bday 10xs better! Their prime rib is so good!
  6. oh and the home made cheese cake is friggen delicious!!!! It was perfect. Not too sweet and not too bland. The caramel had a slight burn taste to it which is delicious! Everything about it was perfect. You have to try this cheese cake when here.
  7. JJ was great at checking in with us to make sure everything was going ok, tasted good, or if we needed anything.
  8. cute decorations on the walls.
  9. bathroom was clean.

Cons:

  1. none!

Conclusion: Oh we love this place. Customer service is an A+++. Parking is free and like i mentioned earlier, they have a little lot next to them. You can also drive to the back to look for more parking. They can get pretty busy pretty fast. They do have a bar area. Our server, JJ, was excellent, attentive, and I can see him trying to serve all his tables as best he can. There was a large group in the other room celebrating a bday and he too was serving them. Chris, the manager, was awesome! He made my honey's bday a blast. Chris even mentioned a few other restaurants with good prime rib to us. Super sweet! Thank you so much Chris and JJ for your awesome customer service!!!! I highly recommend...

I was just thinking of coming back here and giving this place another shot. I am meeting up with an old high school friend and this place instantly popped into my mind because of the atmosphere.

However, I read a review written by a Hispanic woman who did not have as wonderful an evening as other reviewers on here and, instantly, I flashed back to my initial visit here. Why? Well I am a Hispanic male and and I did not have a wonderful visit either, but my friends did and they are not Hispanic.

We went to see a local Sacramento band play here one night after we had our own rehearsal. I ordered the mushroom appetizer. I forget the name, but it is the only one on the menu. After the waitress took my order, I waited for my appetizer and my beer and she seemed to have forgotten all about me. My friends received their beers and she didn't bring mine despite having ordered the same exact beverage as my friend.

Once I got my appetizer it tasted a little odd. I was hungry so I didn't notice at first, but all the mushrooms were burnt. My friends and the wife of my one of the band players tasted it after my comment on it and they said it must have been scraped from the bottom of the pan and that I should complain.

By this time I was not impressed by the service or the food, but decided to cut the place a break. Maybe the waitress had a long day, maybe the chef did. Either way, my friends were having a great time and I didn't want to be a damper.
