Happy Garden Elk Grove — Restaurant in Elk Grove

Awful from the moment we walked in. It took them 15 minutes to ask if we wanted a drink. The po po platter was mostly bad, ribs were insanely dry like unusually dry...shrimp was overcooked, foil chicken overcooked, steemed rice was overcooked and separated like grains of sand - not sticky at all. The chicken in the chow mein was overcooked, the sweet n sour pork overcooked and COLD - not just the meat but even the veggies so it had been sitting for awhile. Lemon chicken was not tangy, and super soggy so that had been sitting. Curry beef tasted funky, we left that on the table when we left. When I told the waitress about the lemon chicken being soggy and the sweet n sour pork being cold, they didn't even offer to re cook them, and we never even got our waters refilled not even once.

This place was packed and it's beyond me how that's possible. They clearly couldn't handle the rush. Even with two dishes removed from our bill it was $65 bucks.

Normally this is my place to go for orange chicken and chowmein! I specifically drove out to the Happy Garden Elk Grove. So we placed our order. I was waiting with excitement. Got the food and drove home. Not thinking to check because they have always had great portions. The time finally came to open the food, the chowmein portion/taste was excellent as always. But the portion of orange chicken was not. It was topped with big pieces on top and little nuggets underneath. Normally the chicken is filled to the top and but this time was not even half full. I come to Happy Garden often and have noticed that the customer service is not good. The 3 waitress that are working on a regular basis never greet us kindly because I am of a colored ethnicity. I have noticed on every occasion I have come to this restaurant that if you are Caucasian they will be friendly, otherwise not. I have called many times to notify the manager/owner who continues to say that they are older and set in their ways, but that is completely not the case. If they can be nice to certain ethnicities, they are choosing to greet customers as they see fit. The customer service is horrible.
